General comments:
3/5/2019 This thoughtful submission explains how the passage of the 14th Amendment, Black Codes and
sharecropping system contributed to race relations during Reconstruction and describes how urbanization
was a consequence of industrialization. The essay adequately explains the Social Gospel Movement that
promoted Christianity to find solutions to social problems and describes how Labor Reform helped define
the Progressive Era. The passage of the 19th Amendment providing women the right to vote is discussed
and there is a satisfactory presentation explaining US imperialism through the annexation of Hawaii and
Spanish American War. Fully developed discussions describing a second consequence of industrialization
and describing a second reform Movement that helped define the Progressive Era are not apparent.
