Proposal for: LaundryU To: Director of Residential Dorms Date: 8/1/2021

Dear Director,

Currently, 3000 students live in the north quad dorms. Each dorm has a small laundry room that accepts coins. Those facilities are currently busy and in demand. Many college students have never done laundry before or are too busy to do laundry. What if we could provide a service that is affordable, non-intrusive, and helps solve the students’ laundry needs?

We propose to start a service to do precisely this! We would provide students with a laundry bag and designated day of the week. The student would simply put the bag in the basement stairwell that is currently unused space. A delivery driver would pick up the laundry in the morning. We will then launder and fold the clothes all for only $12 per bag!

We did a survy of 100 students in the dorm and found:

Would you be interested in a laundry service that picks up and delivers to your dorm?

If yes, how much would you be willing to pay per bag (approximately 1 load of laundry)?

We are excited to help the university to allevate the overfilled dorm laundries at no cost to the university. We will follow up in a few days to schedule a time to meet and discuss this in person!

Thanks,

Matthew Thomas

Project Description:

As a student at the university, you have an entrepreneurial spirit and have dreamed of starting your own business. You have noticed that the coin laundry in your dorm is always full and crowded. You saw an opportunity to start a business that picks up laundry at the dorms, launders the clothes, folds the clothes, and returns the laundry in a single day. The first step to starting this business is to create a proposal for the university to approve the service to have some operations within the dorms. You started by conducting a survey of your fellow students. The next step is to process the survey results and create a proposal for the university.
