Sales Project Presentation
MKGT 1160 - Professional Selling Sales Demo Project/Presentation - (20% of Grade)
Select a consumer product, and prepare a demonstration to present in class on Thursday night, July 19, 2017 during 6:00-8:00 Proctored Exam session. You will need to have your selected product (approved) by the instructor, so that there will be no duplicate presentations (first come, first served).
Scenario: You are a Sales Representative for (your) product, and will be given the opportunity to demonstrate your product to a retail customer, and their buying team. Your goal is to persuade the buyer to carry your product in their store, or to increase the shelf-space if the product currently exists in the retail store.
· The total presentation for this demonstration should be 8-10 minutes in length.
· You will prepare an accompanying PowerPoint presentation, which will be a minimum of 10 slides long.
· This presentation will serve as your visual guide for the overall demo.
· Follow the guidelines discussed in Chapter 7 of the textbook for effective demonstrations.
· You will need to print out your PowerPoint and hand in a hardcopy before presenting.
· This is a “professional” sales demo, therefore, grammar, typos, etc., will reflect negatively on your grade.
· Actual demos of your product (samples, handouts, etc.) will only enhance the “excitement” level of your overall presentation.
· You should dress professionally and for success, the day of your presentation.
· Rehearse your demo before class so you are confident and controlled.
· Use the PowerPoint slides only as a guide, talk to your audience, maintain eye contact, and become the product “expert” without totally depending at the PPT slides.
· Include any real life marketing materials you may find to enhance your demo, such as brochures, point-of-sale materials, commercials, etc.
· Commercials (if used) should be imbedded in the PowerPoint, and no longer then: 30 seconds given the overall time constraints.
Finally, do NOT include any company history and corporate information in your presentation, assume the buyer already has this data, and instead focus purely on the benefits/features of the product.
· See rubric for specific grading parameters
· Load your PowerPoint on a flash drive for easy loading onto classroom desktop.
