Analytical Thinking, Writing & Research

Final Research Paper

Your research paper must contain the following:

· 6 BODY pages,

· Cover page (First Page),

· Abstract (Second page),

· APA formatted Reference page (Last page),

· Typed, double spaced, 12 point font, Times New Roman

· APA format that included a upper left header on each page, and APA formatted in-text citations, as well as the Reference page. The latest version for APA formatting has eliminated the header from a research paper.

Types of sources that can be used but must be reputable and reliable are:

newspapers

magazines

books

scholarly journals

websites

A well-researched paper will include a variety of sources. For academic papers, books and scholarly journals tend to provide the best information.

Requirements for sources on Reference Page:

Minimum of SIX sources, add more if your research paper entails

· At least ONE book source (Print or Electronic)

· No more than THREE websites can be used

· Minimum of TWO Peer Reviewed/ Scholarly Sources used from the Library Databases MUST be used. If you do not use a book source there should be a third Scholarly Article from the electronic databases.

MUST HAVE LEVEL 1 HEADINGS THROUGHOUT PAPER.

*Hint: Main Points from Outline Assignment*

If you have level 2-5 heading that is fine but stay in the comfort of level 1 headings if you are unsure of the format.

THIS ASSIGNMENT IS IMPORTANT!!! Remember, this paper is 20% of your final grade. The Oral presentation of the paper is your final and worth 15% of your grade.

It doesn’t matter what discipline you are in, you will have to write well-researched papers. You need to get used to finding good sources (not just whatever pops up first in a google search) and figuring out ways to effectively integrate those sources into your own writing. Becoming familiar with techniques to determine, credible, reliable, accurate, and current information is critical to writing a successful research paper, as is correct documentation using APA formatting, especially for in-text citations and a Reference page.
