Assessment Summary

Read all the instructions below before attempting the assessment task. Assessment tasks are tools used to determine if you have the knowledge and skills to complete tasks to industry standards within the workplace. Your trainer/assessor will help you throughout this task and it is your responsibility to provide enough evidence to justify a competent decision by the trainer/assessor. If you do not understand the questions or what is required, ask your trainer/assessor for assistance.

· For group assessments, all students are to contribute to the assessment tasks. You must work in groups when the assessment is required and when that is the case you will be allocated in to groups by your trainer in the class; hence your active presence is necessary

· Role play/presentation if part of the assessment must be done by all students. Photos or video may be taken as part of the evidence.

You are to complete all tasks by the due date and assessments must have a coversheet attached. If you think you do not have enough time to complete the tasks by the due date, discuss with the trainer/assessor the reasons of why you cannot submit on time. Assessment tasks submitted late may not be accepted by your trainer/assessor, leaving the learner with a Did Not Submit (DNS) result.

Writing your responses

When answering questions, ensure that your answers are detailed enough so the assessor can draw a conclusion that you have the knowledge and/or skills to demonstrate competency. Handwritten answers must be written in blue or black pen. When producing reports, please make sure that your project has the following complete information:

A Title Page, Table of Contents, Page Numbers, Reference List, ensuring that your answers thoroughly match the questions asked.

Answer all questions in your own words to avoid plagiarism. Plagiarism is copying someone else’s work or ideas and saying that it your own work. Sources of work must be properly referenced, outlining the source of your ideas. Penalties may include having to resubmit the assessment task again, repeating the Unit of competency, or for repeat plagiarism, expulsion from Cambridge College International.

You understand that any materials and information provided to your trainer including your assessment decision/result will be kept confidential (Privacy Act)

Marking of Assessments

On submission of your assessment will be marked for a result of either Satisfactory (S) or Not Yet Satisfactory (NYS). If you receive a NYS result, you will be asked to redo the tasks again. To achieve a competent result with this unit, all tasks need to be completed and marked as satisfactory. Your trainer/assessor will provide feedback to you on each task, outlining where you must improve to achieve a Satisfactory (S) result. When all tasks are marked as Satisfactory (S), you will receive a result of Competent (C) for this unit otherwise, you will be marked Not Yet Competent (NYC). Assessments submitted to the trainer/assessor after the due date may not be accepted, and you may have to a resubmission fee.

Assessment appeals

You may appeal the assessment decision if you do not agree with it. You may request an appeal two weeks from the date the results are issued. If you would like an assessment review, contact the Academic manager with a written response outlining your reasons for the appeal. This could be because of a request for special consideration or lodging a formal complaint about the assessment process itself. Learners with special needs will be accounted for by applying the principle of fairness within assessment marking.

HONESTY OF WORK and PLAGIARISM DECLARATION

1. I know that plagiarism means taking and using the ideas, writings, works or inventions of other individual/s as if they were the ones of my own. I know that plagiarism not only includes verbatim copying, but also the extensive use of another person’s ideas without proper acknowledgement (which includes the proper use of quotation marks). I know that plagiarism covers this sort of use of material found in textual sources and from the Internet.

2. I acknowledge and understand that plagiarism is wrong.

3. I understand that my research must be accurately referenced. I have followed the rules and conventions concerning referencing, citation and the use of quotations.

4. This assignment is my own work, or my group’s own unique group assignment. I acknowledge that copying someone else’s assignment, or part of it, is wrong, and that submitting identical work to others constitutes a form of plagiarism.

5. I have not allowed, nor will I in the future allow, anyone to copy my work with the intention of passing it off as their own work.

Task One – Written Questions

Student Instructions:

Read the questions provided below. To achieve a satisfactory outcome for this task you must answer all questions in detail. Answers are to be typed alongside the questions specified below and attached to this document as evidence.

Questions

1. Outline where you may find important information on the current specifications of a system or application

2. List 4 standards that may apply to when developing high-level object-oriented class specifications

3. List 2 examples of an object-oriented analysis tool.

4. List 3 examples of Unified Modelling language (UML) modelling tool.

Task Two – Practical task

Student Instructions:

Read the practical instructions provided below. You are required to carry out the exercises and attach any required documentation to this assessment tool. To be deemed satisfactory in this task you must complete all steps outlined below and attach all required evidence to this assessment tool.

Scenario:

A real estate company has requested that you analyse an existing system of theirs and compile a report on the ‘backbone’ application of this system. You are to conduct an interview with the client (assessor) to determine the specifications of the classes used in this application. You are to review and report on the objects and classes used in this system.

Your tasks:

Each step outlined below must be completed. Compile the information into a report with clear sections and headings. Submit in a report format only, not as questions and answers.

1. Analyse the behaviour of the objects in the application by identifying the classes, objects and abstract data types used, and prepare a report according to organisational standards. Include diagrams and charts in your documentation as necessary.

2. Prepare a state model for the application you are analysing. Your state model will include:

a. Data requirements of the application

b. Application data flow

c. A state-transition diagram

d. Clearly defined data types and specifications

3. Describe the roles and responsibilities of the classes that you have identified in the application. In this section of your report you are required to:

a. Review the functional requirements

b. Assign responsibilities and recommend any updates you would make to class structures

c. Specify the interface and class communication requirements

d. Develop interaction diagrams according to the organisational standards

4. Iterate and review the objects model

a. Identify and review the current object model of the application

b. Identify and develop class relationships, priorities and inheritance hierarchy for the objects identified

c. Review class-service requirements and the initial test criteria of the application

d. List the object processes and reuse class, include diagrams as appropriate

e. Document the object model and present to your finding to your client (assessor)
