Write a 1200-1500 word memo to propose a policy idea of your choice. You may choose an issue area of your interest or expand upon topics from previous modules. The purpose of the memo is for you to identify a public policy problem and come up with policy or legislative recommendation(s) accordingly.

The memo should include:

1) Issue/problem section which lays out the problem at hand and provides background information;

2) Statistics/Data section which provides pre-existing research on the issue;

3) Policy/Legislative Proposal or Recommendations;

4) Stakeholders involved which lists potential supporters and oppositions; and

5) Relevant laws, regulations, reports from other jurisdictions.

Be sure to cite your work as footnotes.

Effectively introduce a problem. Present a clear argument, supported by logical, credible, and relevant evidence. Use accurate citations of research papers and data. Provide a strong concluding statement or section that logically follows from the ideas presented. Acknowledge and counter opposing claims, as appropriate.

● Policy/Legislative Proposal

Comes up with original policy or legislative proposals that are relevant to the topic. The recommendations are well thought out, comprehensive and well researched. Organize the information in a clear and accurate manner.

● Stakeholders and Other Jurisdictions

Demonstrates a full understanding a stakeholder analysis. List of the stakeholders are plausible and relevant to the topic chosen.
