This paper should be an interview/observation with a child 6 years or younger. A complete set of instructions for this paper can be found at Course Information and Requirements---->Information about Course Assignments--->Child Interview/Observation Projects. Include a copy of your questions with your paper. Please review the project rubric before submitting your paper.

· Newborn (younger than 6 months): reflexes and motor development, temperament, family’s birth experience, eating and sleep cycles, birth or pregnancy complications, range of emotions, sensorimotor substages

· Infancy and Toddlerhood (6 months to 2-3 years): development of object permanence, type of attachment, physical development/milestones (is development appropriate for age?), language development (is development appropriate for age?--use of underextensions, overextensions, 2-word combinations), type of temperament, sex-typed play and preferences, event memory, goodness of fit, other cognitive development, other sensorimotor stages, categorical self, self-recognition

· Early Childhood/Preschool (2-3 to 5-6 years): performance on pre operational tasks (conservation, animism, egocentrism), self-concept development, understanding of theory of mind (false belief), memory of early childhood events, expertise, continued language development, continued physical development

Each paper should include a cover page, a copy of your questions, and your resources (typed on a separate References page).

Rubric

4	90	Missing one to two of the above criteria
3	80	Missing three or four of the above criteria
2	70	Missing four or more of the above criteria
1	60	Addresses the spirit of instructions, but includes few of the above criteria
0	0	No paper turned in or paper is not acceptable.
