In “ Are Sports Overemphasized in the Socialization Process of African American Males,” Krystal Beamon (2010) argues about an elevated level of sports socialization that creates an overrepresentation of African American males. This seems to be nothing but its results are bad including higher expectation for professional sports and lower academic achievement. The author researched and the result showed that most of the respondents emphasized athletics above anything such as: studying, other talents, and other skills.
