It is encouraging that the World Health Organization states the number of deaths from diseases that are non-communicable such as injuries, cardiovascular disease, and stroke are decreasing (WHO, 2007), however, it is discouraging that one in three persons die from heart disease, heart attack, or stroke (Ramos, 2017). Those with lack of exercise, sedentary life styles, and poor diets high in saturated fat are more prone to develop cardiovascular disease. The American Heart Association identifies heart disease as the leading cause of death worldwide (AHA, 2019). How can health care delivery systems impact and address this global health issue?
