Personal brand is beyond an impressive logo or a trademark it is how I present myself offline and online to prospective customers and clients. My brand image is what I will develop to help shape my career that will be focused around me as a diverse individual. As a current student in the Bachelor of Science in Health Administration (BSHA) my career goal is to work in health care as an Administrator. What skills you need to develop for future opportunities Healthcare administrators must acquire various complementary aptitudes to successfully manage a healthcare corporation. The skills are categorized under five core competencies by he Healthcare Leadership Alliance and they are: business skills, leadership, knowledge, communication, and professionalism. Health care administrators on a daily basis apply these competencies in healthcare industry. Healthcare is a complex and dynamic field that demands its administrative professionals to be adaptive, flexible and interpersonal skills. They are required to effectively communicate and relate to a cadre of individuals such as: Physicians, Patients, Partners / Investors, Fellow Administrators, Vendors and Industry Leaders ("Core Competencies For A Healthcare Administrator", 2018). According to Doyle (2018), “In addition to hard skills and on-the-job experience, certain personal qualities, or soft skills are important for healthcare administration positions. These skills might not be addressed in training programs and they may or may not show up in job descriptions (some employers know to look for them, others might not), but they are necessary for doing a good job. These soft skills include both collaborative and creative thinking, multitasking, and the ability to prioritize. Time management is critical, especially when 3 multitasking. Problem-solving and critical thinking is important, and you must be personally adaptable because situations change often”. What strategies you will employ to gain these skills The strategies that I will employ to achieve the required skills for my career goal as an health care administrator is to complete my current Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration course. To become a health care administrator demands a bachelor’s degree; an undergraduate degree in healthcare administration is the least employers possible will considers. I can also elect to concentrate in specific areas like nursing homes or hospitals. Nevertheless, because my long-term goal is to be successful and eventually move ahead into the administrative position in a healthcare facility, I will acquire a dual MHA and MBA as well. I will obtain internships in a healthcare establishment such as; World Health Organization, Mayo Clinic, Children’s Hospital Network and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, this will give me the experience I need to be successful (White, 2018). While getting work experience, I will also aim to develop my skills in the areas of expertise that are specifically important for health administration careers, such as policy development, problem-solving, communication, decisionmaking, delegation of authority, negotiation, data analysis, managing staff, goal-setting, and leadership. How you currently project a professional image and how you can continue to build your brand According to "Careerstone Group"(2007-2018), “a positive professional image is essential to a successful career, no matter your age or field. Whether you are looking for a job, starting a new job, or a seasoned workplace veteran, it’s a good idea to learn or review the basics of creating a positive professional persona” ("Five Tips For Creating A Positive Professional 4 Image", 2007-2018). I currently dress for success my professional apparel tells who I am as an individual, because my first impression should be positive. I exhibit a respectful and positive attitude. I am confident however not cocky, not obsequious but polite, friendly without being annoying. My body language is an important component of my image it encourage trust and approachability. I will continue to build my brand by being consistent making sure my online life matches my professional persona, by keeping my overall appearance and image the same. Projecting a professional image is very important. What strategies you will employ to advance your career To advance my career I will employ strategies such as taking classes, by learning latest skills, another strategy is to network often and smarter because nothing will gets my name out there quicker than making professional and personal connections. And when done smartly, those connections will individually be significant on many levels. Finally keeping a revised resume on hand at all times, having a strong, updated resume is the most crucial key for the advancement of my career. How you will know your brand and strategies are effective I will know that my brand and strategies are effective when I see an increase in my network growth, and robust conversations. The number of social media followers and references by others is one way to let me know that my brand and strategies are effective. A successful strategy and brand achieves a widespread both in measurable and continuous engagement as well as exposure. Conclusion As and administrator I must be able to delegate authority and make decisions, while overseeing administrative personnel and all levels of medical. I will have the ability to “analyze 5 data, establish goals, make evaluations, and develop policy to maintain consistent standards of patient care among departments. A health care administrator must also be a good negotiator and have the ability to build relationships with government agencies, unions, and community organizations. Health care administrators manage the business of health care. They establish and maintain budgets, recruit and supervise personnel, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Many higher-level health care administration executives have a master's degree in a field such as public health or business, hospital or nursing administration.
