Are there universal moral values that educators, parents, and community members -- regardless of philosophical, political, or religious beliefs -- that you would include in the curriculum content you have chosen? If so, what are they and why would you choose those particular values? See p. 193.

I believe that including morals that are universal is extremely important in curriculum content.  Without the sense of a common moral compass, or as the text suggests a moral atmosphere, the roles in a school building cannot be properly filled.  Students need to understand the importance of respect and minimal disruptions in order for learning to take place.  Teaching children to develop a sense of justice would also be vital to teach in a curriculum content.  Understanding the difference between philosophical, political, or religious beliefs and an idea of a universal moral value is an important distinction to make when discussing morals with students.  As a principal I would have the guidance counselors help implement a committee that could include teachers and students to help plan appropriate curriculum that enhances the moral atmosphere at my school.  Ideas such as drawing up a social contract that students and teachers would sign could be very effective in teaching morals in a tangible way while setting the expectations of how we will treat each other at school could be reinforced.
