How does this quote resonate with you?

This quote speaks to me a lot about time management and organization.  As principal you will constantly be pulled in several directions, not to mention having to deal with the regular ins and outs of the job.  In my current role as athletic director I feel I get pulled in many different directions daily, but I expect it.  As a building leader I would expect the same thing, but spending time daily to map out the day and adding time for expected things to show up are important.

Have you already experienced this in your internship, or perhaps observed it in your school?

Week three of my internship I experienced job overload.  I spent the entire day with my principal and did not sit down until I got home that evening.  That day we experienced a bit of everything from student discipline, interviews, school transportation issues and having mediate a teacher conflict, along with the regular parts of the day which included lunch duty, parent contacts, walkthroughs, etc.   I remember thinking to myself late in the day that there should have been more planning for specific things and not so much attention paid to others. 

What does it mean to you to have greater freedom because you have control of your time? Give some examples where you have found this to be true.

I have been dealing with student discipline a lot at my school since entering my internship.  In the beginning I looked at as fun and did it because it was serving its purpose.  It got old quick and it never changed or never went away.  I was spending time here and there doing it, and finally got to a point where I put a time and a limit on how much I would do it daily to become more efficient at it.
