Data-Driven Success Story of Worthington Elementary

In the school where you are now, what changes do you propose that may need to take place in order to see this kind of "skyrocketing scores?"

At the school where I am we would have to implement more solid intervention plans based upon the demographic that we serve. We have to make sure that we are serving students at the highest level and not just creating after school time or Saturday school times that are pretty much a waste of student and teacher time if the information is not beneficial. 

Maybe you have had an experience similar to the one at Worthington. What kinds of changes were put in place at your school to see this happen?

I can say that I have not been fortunate enough to have an experience such as this one. The schools I have worked at have implemented intervention times but they were not done with fidelity nor were they consistent. Also, teachers were not so accepting of the plans that were put in place. 

What suggestions can you make to your classmates from your school's experience in raising test scores?

Consistency is key with students and making sure that students have the right skill set needed to not only test well but to increase their own proficiency and understanding outside of the schools walls. 

Perhaps you have seen your school start out well with well-intentioned goals, but enthusiasm and motivation have waned. What may have been the reason and how could you change that as an administrator?

The lack of enthusiasm has been due to the lack of consistency and fidelity. Often times the problems with these types of programs is schools will implement them but they will not remain consistent. . As a future administrator I would ensure that my teachers know that in order for this to work we have to make sure that we are consistent across the board.
