Introduction to Comprehension Assessment

How will you have to prepare for the new assessment?

One of the ways in which I would prepare for the new assessment is students the differences between their regular assessment scores and that of the new assessment. For example, I would give my students a smaller comprehensive assessment before giving them something on a much larger scale. Also, these types of assessments, in my opinion, are more along the lines of project-based learning, therefore since I use this method within my classroom already it would not take very much for me to prepare a comprehensive assessment

Do you believe this assessment will be a valid measure of your students' learning?

Comprehensive assessments allow students to think out the box and to best of their ability and their understanding. Therefore, the grading of the comprehensive assessment would have to be one that is equitable across the board.

How has this video motivated you to look at other assessments that you may not have tried before and as a principal, challenge your staff to do the same?

As a teacher, there is not much room to explore and experiment with other assessment types due to the expectations of the admin team. However, as a principal, I would encourage my staff to explore ways to assess their students that incorporate each students learning style. The problem with testing is we are expecting kinesthetic learners to take four five-hour test when that is not how they produce and we have to be mindful of that.  I would encourage my staff to create comprehensive assessments that show inclusiveness.
