VIDEO ASPECT GUIDELINE
Professionalism Please dress as if you were going to be presenting to a classroom full of students. Also, be aware of the language you use in your video. Try to stay away from slang and any unprofessional language such as curse words.
Background Please make sure that your background is clean and free of clutter. Be cognizant of your surroundings and remove any identifiers such as dates, calendars, signs and personal and student information. If possible, wear a solid color shirt opposite of your background when recording.
Lighting Please make sure that you have enough light so that you are visible, but not so much light that you are washed out. Fluorescent lighting is some of the best lighting. If possible, film directly under a fluorescent light.
Sound Review your video for distracting noises, or muffled and distorted sound. When possible, have someone test your recording mic prior to recording presentations. Also, test by recording one presentation and publish this video to be sure everything is good to go in regard to sound, lighting, and audio.
Picture Quality Although we are not expecting a Hollywood production, your video should be clear enough for the professor to make out who you are. Most webcams, tablet cams, and cell phone cams are powerful enough to provide a clear picture, but double check your video after you finish recording to ensure quality.
Length Your video should be no longer than three minutes in length.
Camera Set-up Position your camera so that you are looking straight into it. Extreme angles (up or down) can be distracting to students and can include unnecessary distractions in your background. Make sure that the professor can see your head, but do not sit too close or too far away, as this can also be distracting.
Body Position Look straight and try not to fidget around too much. A moving target can be very distracting. If you see that you continue to fidget, try sitting in a chair that is stationary.
ADA Compliance All videos must have a transcript for ADA compliance purposes. This is
