INTRODUCTION

A mission statement incorporates an organization’s goals, objectives and beliefs in a single written document.

It communicates the main purpose of the an organization’s existence and the manner in which it will serve its crucial stakeholders.

A well written mission statement comprises of the following features: it is simple, measurable and compelling. Organizations should note that good mission statements lead to successful growth of an organization.

A mission statement is crucial as it gives a concise reason why a business is in existence and its goals.

A mission statement is focused on communicating its main purpose to stakeholders.

The major stakeholders in a business are employees. Customers, investors, the government and the community.

In large firms mission statements are widely known since they are posted publicly; on their websites and publications.

Well written and widely known mission statements lead to successful businesses.

FINALIZED MISSION STATEMENT

The final mission statement of the Los Angeles Veterans Affairs organization will be focused on showing the key stakeholders the purpose of the organization, who the organization will serve and how they will be served and the core values of the organization.

The mission statement will be, To warmly care for the close relatives of those that will bear the battle by diligently serving and honoring Los Angeles veterans.

Stakeholders can now tell that the organization’s purpose is to care, honor and serve veterans, their close relatives and the core values which are illustrated by the manner they will serve , care and honor; diligently and warmly.

Stakeholders are key as they shape the growth of an organization, the final mission statement therefore was aimed at communicating the core values of the organization and the purpose of the organization.

From the final mission statement the core values of the organization are commitment, respect and excellence.

Commitment is illustrated by their willingness to care, serve and honor veterans and their close relatives, respect is by honoring them while excellence is by being able to successfully fulfill the objectives of the mission statement.

IMPORTANCE OF EACH COMPONENT

Conveying the goals and objectives of the organization; caring, honoring and serving veterans and their relatives in the mission statement is important.

In this case employees are aware of what is expected of them and work towards achieving these goals and objectives thus facilitating productivity.

Los Angeles veterans are the customers and they know what services organization is focused on offering them. The investors can comfortability invest in the organization since their purpose is clear.

The government and the community is able to tell what the organization is about and the manner in which it is serving them.

The core values portrayed in the statement are excellence, respect and commitment. They enhance stakeholders satisfaction therefore improving performance.

Each of the component in the mission statement is important and has a role to play in enhancing the performance of an organization.

The ability of the Los Angeles Veteran Affairs mission statement to clearly show the goals and objectives of the organization goes along way in shaping the responsibility of each stakeholder towards the success of the organization.

Customers and employees are key stakeholders and the mission statement clearly caters for their expectations.

The core values are portrayed in the mission statement they show the kind of organization the Los Angeles Veteran Affairs is and from them stakeholders can comfortably associate with it.

CONTINUATION

The target market of the Los Angeles Veteran Affairs; the Los Angeles veterans and their close relatives in another aspect in its mission statement.

The importance of indicating the target market is that it clearly shows the stakeholders such as employees whom to serve and whom not to serve.

The mission statement also indicates the manner in which the target market will be served by the organization.

The employees, government, customers and the community will be able to tell the limits of service that the organization offers and avoid conflict of interest.

The target market is refers to a group of consumers of a specific good or service, in our case the target market was Los Angeles veterans.

The mission statement clearly indicates that it will only offer its services to veterans in Los Angeles and their close relatives, the employers therefore automatically know that they can not serve distance relatives of veterans from other cities.

The statement further directs the stakeholders on the manner in which the goals and objectives of the organization will be achieved.

Stating the manner the organization will serve its customers avoids conflict of interest in that the customers will not have higher expectations which the organization will fail to fulfill.
