GOVT 2304 Essay Topic: Political Parties

Guidelines:

Be sure to follow all formatting guidelines provided in the syllabus. Your final work product must have a cover page with a word count, an essay that is 3-4 pages in length and a works cited page. The minimum writing requirement is two full pages in your own words (without cited material) and the minimum research requirement is two scholarly sources. If the minimum expectations are not met, the assignment will be marked incomplete. Be sure to provide a proper citation in MLA or APA format for all works consulted in the body of the essay and on a separate works cited page.

Essay Prompts:

· What are the different functions of political parties in different political systems? Select two states to use for a comparative inquiry.

· Your research should cover the roles of parties and discuss the positive and (if any) negative aspect of their functions.

· Finally, examine what factors explain the effectiveness of parties in each state you studied.
