Select one of the assigned readings from this unit, and in no fewer than two pages, write a short essay discussing how either Douglass’s narrative or at least one of President Lincoln’s writings illustrates themes of disenfranchisement and/or empowerment struggles of the 19th century and still relates to a current human rights struggle in the United States.

Keep in mind that your writing should be relevant to a current audience and should explain forces that impact current reactions to the works.

Make sure you support your discussion with at least two quotes from your selected reading. Cite your source in APA style, and include a title and reference page.
