Title of study (this in your introduction) APA Level 1

· For example: The effects of video modeling on madding (or whatever your behavior is) with 2nd grade students (or whomever your participant(s) are).

1 general paragraph introduction

· Discuss the general topic at hand (i.e., video modeling, PECS, and behavior you’re intervening with)

Literature review of 3 articles (use APA headings to identify each article using basic key words)

Review each article in 2 paragraphs and include the following: Provides the following details:

· A brief description of the research question(s) and hypothesis

· The method, setting, and subjects, research design

· A summary of the results

· The conclusions as reported by the study author(s)

Rationale for the present study

Provide a reason why you are choosing to study this based on the 3 articles you reviewed.

· For example, no one has studies the problem in this manner before or using the specific intervention.

Include your thesis statement here. It should read something like this EXAMPLE: The purpose of the present study was to examine the effectiveness of combining expert video modeling with video feedback on the development of mands

Commented [IS1]: This section should be about 3 to 4 pages. It corresponds to anchor 1, part a.

Methods (APA level 1)

· All sub-sections are APA level 2

Participants and Settings (APA level 2)

· Include a statement on how you sough consent.

Materials

Target behavior (dependent variable)

· Include a sentence or 2 on inter-observer agreement. Indicate it was measured 20% of the intervention days and give me a percentage above 80% (this is the minimum level expectation)

Social validity (1 paragraph, how are you measuring it? A self-design 5 questions rating scale?)

Procedure

· Include research design here ABAB with 1 or 2 participants.

· Step by step process on how the intervention is implemented. How will you implement the intervention?

· Be descriptive.

· 1 sentence on treatment integrity and procedural integrity (they man the same thing). This is a list you make on the implementation steps of the intervention. It will be a percent correct of steps a second observer can code to make sure the intervention is implemented correctly. Indicate it was measured 20% of the intervention days and give me a percentage above 80% (this is the minimum level expectation)

Commented [IS2]: This section should be 3 to 4 pages. It corresponds to anchor 1, part b.

Results (APA Level 1)

· A brief 1 paragraph introduction to results Use the Kratochwill manual and the articles in doc sharing as examples

· Include graphs in this section (text narrative should refer to graphs)

· Provide 1 sentence on the results of inter-observer agreement

· Provide 1 sentence on the results of procedural integrity agreement

· Provide 1 sentence on the results of social validity scale

Commented [IS3]: This sections should be around 2 pages because of graphs. It corresponds to anchor 2, #1.

Discussion (APA level 1)

· Restate research question for example: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of combining expert video modeling with video feedback on the development of mands for two 2nd grade students with language delays.

· Summarize overall effectiveness of your intervention. Did behavior increase/decrease and was it significant or just a little.

· Discuss how your results are similar or not similar to the results of the studies you reviewed.

Limitations of the study (APA level 2)

· Discuss amount of participants

· Pros and cons of using an ABAB design

· Generalization because of limited participants

Commented [IS4]: This section should be 1 page and corresponds to anchor 2, #2. It should be about 1 page.

Front and back matter

· See 5.20-5.25 (pp. 150-161) in APA manual for information on figures and graphs

· You can also use the sample thesis located in doc sharing as an example for major APA headings

· Use the Austin & Agar (2005) article as a reference to help you organize your paper

· Use the APA manual, the Kratochwill manual, and the Alberto and Troutman graphing manual to tweak your graphs.

· The suggested page lengths per section are rough estimates, your paper should be 10-15 pages in length
