Unit 7 discussion
When designing the self-management and implementing it we should consider selecting small but easy consequences, set a meaningful easy to meet criterion for the reinforcement, and you might want to put someone else in control of delivering the consequences if it is needed. Both rewards and penalties used in the self-management programs should be small and easily delivered (Cooper, Heron, & Heward, 2007). Self-administered consequences allow the individual to self-manage their behaviors and deliver the reinforcement or punishment to themselves for exhibiting, or not exhibiting, the target behavior (Cooper, et al., 2007).
