PART ONE

Analysis assessment of the significance of diversity and multicultural perspectives within public health and

The concept of diversity and multicultural perspective are some of the policies that have been adopted in public health and health education fields. Policies related to diversity and multicultural perspectives involves taking into consideration the inevitable variety of disparities that exist among people in healthcare. Such consideration may include differences in customs, behavior, practices, and attitudes that exist among people from diverse racial, ethnic and national backgrounds. (Betancourt, Green & Carrillo, 2002) This paper seeks to examine the significance of diversity and multicultural perspective and the need to consider multiple perspectives before developing public health intervention in public health and health education fields.

· Representation put patients at ease

There is a very high probability that patients are likely to be at ease in a situation where the medical personnel who are attending to them are from a multicultural background. One of the main objectives of healthcare is to ensure that patients are subjected to better services. This can be achieved if patients are being attended to by medical personnel who actually understand their background. (Betancourt, Green & Carrillo, 2002)

· Improving patients’ satisfaction

The concept of diversity and multicultural perspectives has the critical role of ensuring that patients’ satisfaction is upheld and subsequently maintained. In most instances, patients are always conformable communicating their experiences to medical personnel whom they share with cultural backgrounds. The moment a healthcare facility adopts this concept, there would be diverse healthcare personnel who would likely attend to patients of similar multicultural perspective hence improving their satisfaction. (Betancourt, Green & Carrillo, 2002)

· Promotion of excellence in a medical school setting

The other context in which diversity and multicultural perspectives have depicted positive implication is the health education field. Medical students are always drawn from various background and they have equally been attended to by lecturers and professors of diverse backgrounds. The interaction of the students and lecturers from the diverse backgrounds has ensured that there is a lot of diffusion of information which is key to the medical sectors. Such interactions are bound to promote medical excellence. (Betancourt, Green & Carrillo, 2002)

· Improving communication

The concept of communication is important in all organization as it seeks to pass information from one person to the next. In any case, diversity and multicultural perspectives are adopted, there would be a high probability that communication would equally be improved in the healthcare sector. For instance, there is a high probability that a patient who is interaction with medical personnel from a similar background would be empowered to ask a lot of questions that would likely prevent cases of misdiagnosis. (Betancourt, Green & Carrillo, 2002)

The importance of considering multiple perspectives before developing public health interventions

Devising various interventions in the healthcare would be quite successful if multiple perspectives are considered. Multiple perspective consideration would eliminate the benefit of the doubt of the outcome of specific interventions. For instance, there would be a high probability that the medical sector is would be likely to achieve the desired goals in any case they use diverse perspective for the purposes of intervention to various healthcare issues. (Leininger & McFarland, 2002)

PART TWO

Goal 1: Create a safer population by reducing the epidemic of gun violence (Walpole, 2009).

Objective 1: To create an awareness throughout the community, families, teens, and adults that gun violence is a health menace to everyone, and that regulating it needs all to take a stand (Cothran, 2003).

Objective 2: To reveal the culture and effect of gun violence on mental health and its embracement in the social media, including Televisions, movies, video clips, and others, and work for the immediate solutions.

Opinions on the inclusivity of the above goal and objectives

I'm of the opinion that the two objectives that fall under the goal of the creation of a safer population and reducing gun control can easily be applied to a diverse population. This can be achieved in that the main intention is to fight gun violence and people from diverse backgrounds own guns hence the objectives under this goal can easily be achieved. This strategy can be implemented through government efforts to regulate arms ownership. For instance, the government can pass on various regulatory measures that bar minors from owning guns in each and every state

Goal 2: Provide more support for survivors of gun-related violence.

Objective 1: Launching a social media campaign to push the government to prevent gun violence and support of the victims or survivors (Walpole, 2009.

Objective 2: Create an awareness of the support that survivors of the gun-related violence require.

Opinions on the inclusivity of the above goal and objectives

The strategy of providing support for survivors of gun control can easily be achieved when geared towards the objectives above in multicultural dimensions as victims of gun violence are always people from different backgrounds. This strategy can be implemented through offering medical and educational support to all victims of gun violence. The healthcare sector can equally use personnel from a diverse background in attending to victims of gun violence in hospitals. The operation schedule should be designated in such a way that all the patients of gun violence are supported by the multicultural medical personnel.

Goal 3: Fight on corruption, which facilitates the illicit trade of small arms and ammunition.

Objective 1: Engaging social media outlets to ensure gun control and violence reduction remains a priority –linking it with past and upcoming incidences gun suicides.

Objective 2: Releasing the relevant research and publications.

Opinions on the inclusivity of the above goal and objectives

Corruption is a vice that has affected almost each and every community. The main goal of fighting corruption through social media and publications would be quite successful as it would reach people of diverse cultural dimension from diverse backgrounds. This strategy can be achieved by ensuring that those who are misusing guns regulatory measures are effectively charged in courts. There is a high probability that those who would be using guns are from different cultural backgrounds.
