Unit Objectives   When you have successfully completed this unit you will be able to:

· Explain and describe the objectives associated with project quality and risk management.

· Distinguish the importance and contributions of project quality and risk management in achieving project success.

· Evaluate and assess the inputs, processes, techniques, and deliverables/outputs associated with project quality management.

· Evaluate and assess the inputs, processes, techniques, and deliverables/outputs associated with project risk management.

· Explain how project quality and risk management processes are integrated into the project lifecycle.

Unit Checklist   In this unit, you are expected to:

· View “Qualilty and Risk Management” presentation ( PPT ,  MP3 ,  TXT,   iOS ).

· Read Chapter 8 - Project Quality Management in the PMBOK Guide.

· Read Chapter 11 - Project Risk Management in the PMBOK Guide.

· Read Chapter 8 - Project Quality Management in Information Technology Project Management.

· Read Chapter 11 - Project Risk Management in Information Technology Project Management.

· Participate in Unit Discussion: Project Risk Management.

· Submit the Unit 6 Exercise: Risk Management Plan.

· Complete Unit Journal Entry.

Based on this week's reading, independent research, and your own experience, what are are the key components of a risk management system? Overall, which component contributes the most toward controlling risk (uncertainty)?

Unit Journal Entry

Students will practice reflective learning through use of the online journaling tool in BlackBoard. Each student will create weekly journal entries reflecting on best practice ideas and approaches associated with IT project management. 

Directions: The focus for each entry will to reflect upon what’s been learned from the current unit with the exception of the final entry. The final journal entry should include a reflection of what’s been learned as a result of the entire course. Journal entries are required for each week of the course.
