Big Data describes the large volume of data, both structured and unstructured, that inundates a business on a day-to-day basis. But it’s not the amount of data that’s important. It’s what organizations do with the data that matters. Analyzing big data can lead to better decisions and strategies. However, big data also brings privacy concerns and technical challenges.
Open Data is data that can be freely used, shared and built upon by anyone, anywhere, and for any purpose without copyright restrictions. Open data is readily available in many government sites which in turn, provides transparency in processes and operations.

ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
This assignment will be prepared in a Microsoft Word file. Your report should be approximately 1-2 pages long. You do not need to include a cover page. You do need to properly cite any resources you might use in APA style. include a reference page for these resources.
Your report should include the following points and questions:
Locate data from this Data.CMS.gov, which is an open data government website that provides hospital-specific charges for the more than 3,000 U.S. hospitals that receive Medicare Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) payments.
· Go to https://data.cms.gov/Medicare-Inpatient/Inpatient-Prospective-Payment-System-IPPS-Provider/tcsp-6e99/data (Links to an external site.)
· Watch this quick tutorial for how to filter data (Links to an external site.).
· Filter the data for the state where you currently live.
· Filter the data for your city or nearest city if your city is not listed.
· Filter the data for Pneumonia. (Operation to filter by should be "contains")
Answer these 6 questions in your report:

1. What city and state did you use?
2. What is the highest total medical payments for your city and state for Pneumonia? Who was that provider?
3. For what companies or organizations might this data be useful?
4. Name one other topic and dataset in this site that you find interesting. What findings about it interest you?

6. Using either the company you work for or a company of your choice, explain how this company might use Big Data.
