Ephesians 4:1-4 Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. 2 Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. 3 Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. 4 For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future.

Assumes you will behave and speak kindly and patiently with all learners Ephesians 4:23-24, 31-32 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy…. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

Assumes you are willing to learn and study Proverbs is full of admonition to study and gain wisdom

Proverbs 1:5 let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance—

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 9:9 Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.

Proverbs 18:15 The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out.

Assumes you desire to teach the student, not the content – have a heart for the student Realizing that every student is uniquely made in the image of God and loved by God

Nehemiah 8:8 The Levites [teachers and priests] instructed the people in the Law while the people were standing there. 8 They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear and giving the meaning so that the people understood what was being read.
