Joshi, Y., Lim, W. M., Jagani, K., & Kumar, S. (2023). Social Media Influencer marketing: Foundations, trends, and Ways Forward. Electronic Commerce Research, 15(1), 1–55. springer. https://doi.org/10.1007/s10660-023-09719-z. This paper provides a systematic review of 214 pieces of research on social media influencer marketing conducted between 2008 and 2021. To this end, the authors outline major lines of research taking into consideration parasocial interaction, sponsorship, authenticity and audiences. The paper also has noted and discussed various factors such as audience, brand, and technology effect on the consumer’s reaction towards Influencer marketing. The authors also addressed the issues on how the influencer-follower connections interact with consumers and influence their perceptions and behaviorally (p. 25). Additionally, the review offers an understanding of how influencers interactively develop legitimacy which convincingly alters the purchase decision-making process and the overall brand commitment to products or services. The paper also outlines the directions of further research for the scholars who are interested in developing this actively evolving marketing sphere.

Kim, J., & Kim, M. (2022). Rise of Social Media Influencers as a New Marketing channel: Focusing on the Roles of Psychological well-being and Perceived Social Responsibility among Consumers. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, 19(4), 1–19. NCBI. https://doi.org/10.3390/ijerph19042362. This paper examines the perceived friendship, psychological well-being, and social responsibility of social media influencer about the consumer loyalty. The authors sampled 388 social media users and found that language similarity, interest similarity, and self-disclosure are influential in the perceived friendship and well-being. Specifically, the study highlights that influencers' perceived social responsibility partially mediates the relationship between social media users (p. 4). Furthermore, it reveals how the psychological well-being is the moderator through which it is established that audience that develops emotional attachment towards influencers is more likely to have faith in their endorsed brands.

Influencer marketing: brand control, commercial orientation and post credibility. Journal of Marketing Management, 36(17), 1–27. https://doi.org/10.1080/0267257X.2020.1806906. Martínez-López et al. (2020) looked into the relationship between perceived control towards brand and commercialization with trust and post credibility of influencers in the marketing process. The authors put forward a theoretical framework, which revealed that trust in influencers reduces more with the aspect of commercial orientation than with brand control. The study highlights that authentic influencers and the proper relationship that brands have to navigate when working with them are crucial (p. 2). The study also discusses the significance of the congruency and expertise of influencer in message believability, which might help the marketers while using them in virtual networks.

Salhab, H. (2024). Social media marketing—Rise of social media influencer marketing and Instagram. Journal of Infrastructure Policy and Development, 8(8), 1–13. https://doi.org/10.24294/jipd.v8i8.3783. Salhab (2024) discussed specifically about the Instagram influence marketing with special reference to the Jordanian market. The research adopts structural equation model to test the hypothesis with data collected from 569 visitors from Instagram; social presence, brand attitude and trustworthiness as the factors that defines the evaluation of local brands. The paper also establishes that both trust and social presence have a positive correlation with the perceived attitudes towards endorsed brands (p. 7). Furthermore, the study outlines the impact of the use of pictures and videos on the opportunities of the direct communication with clients through Instagram, and on the perception of authenticity of influencers on brands’ purchases and brand recognition.
