When adding information to a blog, you may want to add content from other websites, such as the weather report, latest news, sports scores, or other content you deem relevant to your blog. To add this content, you need to add a gadget to your blogs. A gadget is a mini Web application that is used to display specialized content in a blog. It is also known as a widget.
If you want to earn 10 extra credit points, you can add a QR Code to your blogs. A QR Code or Quick Response Code is a two-dimensional bar code that represents a web site, some text, a phone number, or other information often found on marketing materials, such as business cards, receipts, and magazine advertisements, and merchandise available for sale in stores.
NOTE: Please use the Blogger Help website (Links to an external site.) to help you with this assignment! When you are in blogger, click HELP on the bottom left side to obtain answers to your questions.
Adding a Gadget/Widget
To add a gadget/widget to your blog, from the Blogger page:

· Click on Layout on the left-hand side of the screen.
· Click on Add a Gadget in any of the Add a Gadget locations.
Select one of these choices of gadgets to add:

· Basic: There are 26 basic gadgets from which to choose.
· Add Your Own: Enter the URL for a gadget that you want to add to your blog.
To Add Basic Gadgets, follow these directions:

· Click on the “+” sign to the right of the gadget.
· Configure the information for that gadget that is found on that screen.
· Click on Save.
· View your blog and to verify the gadget is now included.
If you want to add your own, visit the website titled Top Widgets for the Sidebar of Your Class or Student Blog (Links to an external site.) . This web site provides all kinds of gadgets to choose from. Follow the instructions found next to the widget of your choice to show how to add that widget to your blog. Since we are using Google Blogger, Google Apps are good choices.

In a Word document, answer these 3 questions. Include a cover page and a reference page if needed. Cite any resources you use in your file in APA format.
1. In one paragraph, explain how gadgets/widgets are useful in a blog.
2. Choose one (2) gadget to add to your blog.
a. Why did you select these gadgets?
b. What purpose will they serve?
3. Add these gadgets to your blog. Take a screenshot of your blog screen showing the gadget added. Paste the screenshot at the end of this file or upload the screenshot as a jpg or pdf file separately.

Whichever method you decide to use, make sure your links work! Test them to ensure that when you click on the link, the link takes you to your social media site. If they don’t work, you have not correctly added the buttons so go back and double-check the instructions.

5. Add these social media buttons to your blog.
6. Take a screenshot of your blog screen (not the layout screen) that shows the buttons on your blog. Paste the screenshot at the end of this file.
7. Be sure you include a link to your blog in your file. We need to see your widgets and buttons.

Upload Instructions:
