Prompt 1

I have a strong attachment to my phone. I use an iPhone smartphone. I am very fond of my phone. I do not believe that I can spend a day without using the phone. It is the first thing I reach for every morning and the last thing I put down at night. I believe I can say that I love my phone and I hold it as a dear and personal possession to me. I feel that my iPhone is an extension of myself and it keeps a clear picture of my identity. I keep a lot of personal things on my phone which makes it very special to me. I often write down the thoughts that I have on a daily basis about life and people in my notepad on my phone. I also jot down my fantasies, dreams and future ambitions of my life in this phone. The phone acts like my confidant as it keeps these private thoughts for me which makes me love it even more (Thompson, 2014).

My phone also acts as my personal assistant at all times. I store all my contacts on my phone as well as the list of all important reminders. My phone alerts me on the meetings I will have during the day, the number of classes I have during that day and the special events of certain days, for instance, the birthdays of all my friends or the anniversary of my parents. It is impossible for me to remember all these things on my own and my phone serves the purpose of storing this information for me and alerting me to the things I need to do. This makes me love my phone even more since it makes my life much easier.

I also love my phone because it was given to me by my uncle. My uncle bought me my phone about a year ago right before he was deployed to fight in Iraq. My uncle and I had always been very close, and he had been my confidant during my childhood days. He bought me the phone on my birthday and told me that the phone would serve to remind me of him once he got deployed to Iraq. The phone reminds me of my uncle and the connection that we shared which is why it is very special to me. I have not been able to change anything on the phone since he left as I feel that it would be interfering with the connection that we have with my uncle.

I also love my phone because it gives me an avenue to be creative. My phone contains many apps that allow me to add a personal touch to everything I do. For instance, it has a photo editor that allows me to add filters to all my photos, allowing me to modify them to my liking. My phone also has a creative studio app that allows me to make artistic drawings on my phone. This allows me to exploit my imagination and creative side (Turkle, 2008). I never express this side to anyone; therefore, my phone provides me with a rare opportunity to explore this part of my personality making me love it even more.

Prompt 2

My phone is rectangular with rounded edges. It is also very slim, and light and this allows it to fit into my pocket as I am walking. The phone is white and has a phone case which has love heart stickers scattered all over its back. The phone case is blue. The phone also has a camera situated on right side of its back with the flash situated right next to it. The position of the camera makes it easier to use OCR and object recognition apps. The phone also has a home button located right at the bottom of the screen. The home button is used to return to the home page after one is done using one of the apps (Kahney, 2006).

The phone is comfortable to grasp and operate. When receiving the phone, it is very easy to hold it in place since it allows a nice grip on it. One does not feel like they may accidentally drop the phone. The fact that it is very light also allows one to hold it for long periods of time effortlessly. The back and front are completely flat as opposed to the phone’s predecessors and the only curved area is its aluminum curves at the corners of the phone. The curved areas make it feel thick and secure in the hand even though it is the slimmest model yet for the iPhone.

The phone also has a large display. The screen almost extends to the bottom of the phone’s body. The screen also has a high resolution which makes it easier for the user to make use of the phone as the display of the icons is much better. The phone also has Siri, the intelligent personal assistant that helps the user to conduct activities on the phone such as making reminders or sending messages to other individuals. The camera lens also slightly protrudes from the phone. The protrusion is not very prominent although it may require one to get a phone case if they tend to use their phone while placed on the table to prevent the wobbling.

The phone has the lock button on its right edge and the volume and mute buttons on the left edge. The position of these buttons makes it easier for the user to press. The volume buttons serve to increase or decrease the volume of the music, and the lock button serves to lock or awaken the phone. The charging port of the phone is situated at the bottom of the phone, and the headphone jack is also found right next to the charging port. The charging port is wide and prominent at the bottom of the phone. The phone is also relatively easy to use. The user interface of the phone is easy to comprehend thereby allowing any user to make use of the phone. The phone, in general, has a very sleek design making it look stylish and fancy while at the same time being very functional.

Prompt 3

I use this phone for many things. I use my phone for communication. There are many apps on my phone which I use to communicate to my friends such as we chat, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. These apps allow me to send and receive texts from my friends which allows me to keep in touch with the people in my life. I also use my phone to call people, and this allows me to send them important information. My phone makes communication much easier for me because it is portable and therefore I can communicate with others from whichever location I am. The phone also allows me to text people which I find to be more convenient than calling thereby easing the communication process for me. The phone also allows me access to social media sites. This allows me to communicate with people from all geographical regions who are connected to me through the social media sites. It allows me to easily interact with people who are not close to my location and share my experiences with them by posting pictures and videos on these avenues quite easily and this has allowed me to ease the communication process.

I also use the phone to surf the internet. My phone can connect to the internet, and I can search for any information on the internet. I often tend to search the meanings of the new concepts that I find in everyday life. I also use the internet in my studies to help me complete the assignments given to me by the lecturers. My phone makes it easy for me to conduct all these activities. It has the safari application that allows me to use any search engine to research any information I would like. It also allows me to save pages and download media from the internet which allows me to access the information later. The phone can also sync these search results with my other devices such that I can obtain the information from any other device thereby making the research process more efficient (Kahney, 2006).

I also use my phone to preserve personal information. My phone stores my photos and personal thoughts and prevents anyone else from accessing the information. The phone has a calendar and allows me to make reminders on the days when I have to conduct some activities. It also allows me to sync this information with my other devices and other people allowing efficiency. The phone also has a camera that I use to take photos and a gallery that stores all these pictures. There is a photo editor app that allows me to apply filters to the pictures I take allowing me to modify them to the way I want them to look. My phone ensures that this private information is safe as it is password enabled such that one cannot access information on the phone. It also has a fingerprint recognition on its home button such that only my fingerprint can unlock the phone making it efficient to use.

Prompt 4

I am a phone, specifically an iPhone. I belong to my user. My user is a campus student, and I was given to her by her uncle right before he was deployed to fight in Iraq. I was manufactured by the Apple Inc. company and was sold in an Apple shop from where I was bought by my owner’s uncle. I tend to believe that I am the most important gadget that my owner has. My owner uses me constantly all day and is always careful to make sure that I do not get damaged. My owner also regularly services me and updates my programs that allows me to function efficiently.

My owner has a couple of other devices that she uses. She has a laptop and iPad, all of which have been manufactured by the same company as I. She has synched all of her devices together such that I can share any information I get to all the other devices and so can the other devices. However, my owner frequently uses me, especially when she is on the move. I identify myself as an iPhone due to my origins which granted me my features and general appearance. I was designed by the Apple Inc. company but assembled in China. Many companies were used in assembling and accessorizing me, and they made sure that I am operating at maximum efficiency. Many objects today have an untold story of where they came from as they prefer to use the narrative given by marketers (Solnit, 2003). I, however, appreciate all the people who took part in making me and I keep them as my identity.

I remember the first day my owner used me. She was so excited to see me and immediately started using me. She was always so hooked to me and changed many of my settings to suit her personal style. She was extremely excited. Once her uncle left for war, she would always hold me dearly, as I reminded her of the love that her uncle had for her, and this prevented her from crying. She would also use me to facetime with her uncle when it was possible. These are the fondest memories I have of my owner.

I believe that the presence of humans on earth is a positive thing since they can bring about positive improvements in the world. However, they tend to go overboard and have ruined their environment. Their emphasis on the use of technology has slowly degraded the environment, and I believe that they should work to better the world. The other animals should be protected by the humans. The human activities have affected the habitats of the other animals, and they should cease the destruction of the homes of these animals to preserve the ecosystem. I also believe that people are over-reliant on technology. The use of technology has made humans very inefficient and lead sedentary and lazy lives. The humans should, therefore, reduce their dependence on technology to ensure that they can lead healthier lives.

Prompt 5

I have observed that my phone is very strong. I am very clumsy, and I, therefore, tend to drop my phone a lot. However, even after all the times that I have dropped it, my phone has not gotten a cracked screen. I could attribute this to the gorilla glass used to make the screen once the phone is manufactured. The phone also has a phone case that absorbs the shock from the fall and protects the integrity of the phone once it falls. This observation has made me realize that my phone is not a knock-off brand. My phone also does not have any scratches despite the many falls that it has experienced. This is because the body of the phone has been made from strong materials that protect the integrity of the phone.

This observation helps me realize the benefit of durability that my phone holds. The phone is, therefore, a good investment as it will last for longer than other phones. I should therefore not get worried even when my phone falls because it has been made using top quality materials and will provide me with quality services. The observation has also made me realize that with great care, the phone may last for a couple of years. It has lasted for a year, and in spite of the many falls it has had, it has not yet cracked or gotten any scratches. Therefore, I will take better care of the phone to ensure that it lasts for a longer time and can provide me great service.

I have also observed that my phone is very secure. It is hard to access my phone unless the individual has my password or are included in the fingerprint recognition system of the phone. It is also almost impossible to hack my phone because the Apple Inc. server has taken strategies to ensure that the information cannot be infiltrated. One also cannot hack my password because the phone is designed such that any attempts to hack the phone password results in the immediate remote wiping of the phone contents as well as any information stored from the phone online. The Apple store is also the only way that one can install any apps on the phone. The store runs under a sandbox format as the only apps provided are those which the company has thoroughly vetted (Kahney, 2006).

The observation has made me feel comfortable with the security of my information while it is on my phone. With the increased threats of cybersecurity, one ends up feeling worried about the security of their information. The security standards put in place by the Apple Inc. company has proven to me that it is very hard for anyone to access my information without my permission and this has made me trust the company even more. The phone is also safe from any viruses due to the sandbox structure that it has adopted. This has enabled me to trust all the apps on the store and has put my mind at ease from worrying about my phone being attacked by a virus.

Prompt 6

The most interesting observation about my phone is the unique design of the phone. My phone features are completely different from the features of the other phones. My phone’s design is very sleek and edgy which is very different from all the other brands of phones. The interface that the phone uses is also completely different from the interface that the other phones use. My phone has an easy to use user interface whereas the other phones are very complicated (Carroll, 2017).

Due to all these features, I have realized that the phone has an allure of class in the market. The people tend to believe that the possession of my phone shows a higher class than those who possess any other types of phones. This may also be enhanced by the price of the phone since it is much more expensive than the other types of phones in the market. The phone is also famed for its other features such as the security levels of the phone. The phone is designed using a unique sandbox structure that ensures that the phone remains secure. Many companies tend to use my type of phone for its operations due to the high security it offers, and this has made me appreciate my phone even more.

The uniqueness that my phone has can be attributed to the innovative efforts of the company employees. The company values innovation and ensures that each product it launches has features that are unique and designed to satisfy the needs of the market. The Apple products are always state of the art and are therefore highly valued, and this is why my phone is very interesting to me.

This observation is particularly fascinating to me. In the past, I thought that all the phones were the same and that there were minute differences among them. However, once I got to use another phone brand, I realize that there are clear differences between all the other phone brands and the iPhones and this made me appreciate the unique features of my phone. The other phone types had many similarities and seemed to be very complex to use. I got to appreciate the unique design of my phone and all its features. I was also fascinated by the difference in phone prices of my phone and the other phone types. I realized that my phone is highly priced as compared to the other phones. I realized that this is due to the unique features of the phone. The uniqueness of the phone has made me appreciate my phone.
