Overview: This activity will allow you to explore, apply, and demonstrate your learning about Research in Criminal Justice. This assignment is Part 1 of 5 that you will complete over the term. Your finished product will come together in five segments scheduled as assignments in this and coming weeks. Your finished product will be a fully organized formal research project proposal that incorporates the parts that make up a well-conceived research project ready for implementation.
Instructions: For this assignment, you will prepare a paper that provides an overview of a proposal for your project. Complete the following:
1. Identify a topic in the Criminal Justice field that will serve as the focus of your research project. Present a rationale for your choice of a topic.
2. Present an Introduction and identify the expected outcome of the research. 3. Provide details and respond to questions posed for each of the elements or planned activities
of a research proposal presented in your textbook. Response for each element should be no more than two (2) sentences. These segments of the proposal should include the following elements:
a. Problem or Objective – Write 1-2 sentences of your drafted problem statement or
research objective.
b. Literature Review – Identify one scholarly resource you plan to use in your research
and provide a brief summary with 1-2 sentences.
c. Research Questions – Identify one focal point you will be focusing on in your research.
d. Subjects for Study – Detail who you will be studying and the focus of your study.
e. Measurement – What information or data will you seek and data or information you will
gather to measure your findings.
f. Data Collection Methods – How do you plan on collecting your data? Provide the
initial ideas you have for collecting your data.
g. Analysis – How will you analyze the data you collect?

h. References – Identify one (1) important source of information about your topic,
excluding your text.
i. Schedule and Budget – Identify the timeframe you plan to follow for your project.

research.)
Requirements:
• Submit a Word document in APA format.
o Include a title page, a running header, and page numbers o 12-point Times New Roman font o 1-inch margins, in-text citations, and a reference page
• Your proposal should be 1-2 pages in length, with additional Title and Reference pages.
• Use at least two (2) resources appropriately cited to support your writing.
