Unit 1

1. Consider how changes in information technology have caused a dilemma concerning ethical issues in organizations. Most people would agree that organizations have the right to monitor employees’ personal usage of company assets. This applies to logging Internet usage and the ability to access and read employees' emails. However, it is not generally considered acceptable to open and read someone else's letter—even if it was written on company paper. Why is there a difference between these two situations? What are the ethical implications here?

Response should be at least 100 words

2. Think of an organization or industry that you are familiar with. Name at least one recent change in technology, and describe how it has transformed current business practices.

3. Discuss why information systems are important to United Parcel Service (UPS). Your response should be at least 75 words in length.

4. Many employers gather and store information on an employee's use of email and the Internet. They will then use that information to measure the quantity and quality of an employee's work. Identify one ethical implication of this practice. Your response should be at least 75 words in length

2. What are some of the IT innovations that have led to improved collaboration in business? Which do you think has been the most important and why?
