Understanding Climate Change

Introduction

-The impact of climate change is threatening future existence all living creatures on the surface of the earth.

-Many living creatures including human beings are facing survival challenges due to ever-increasing harsh environmental conditions brought about by climatic change (NASA, 22).

-The major causes of climatic change can be attributed mainly to industrializations.

-Numerous organizations and key stakeholders including governments are taking affirmative actions to address the societal challenge (Westford Admin, 22).

-Protection of the environment from the adverse impacts of climate change remains one of the most vital roles of various stakeholders in addressing such global challenges (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (NASA).

-The economic impacts of tackling effects of climate changes including embracing the green economy are threatening the future of good intentions by the key stakeholders.

Thesis statement: Climate change is a worldwide phenomenon that requires joint efforts in addressing its impacts and preventing further deterioration of weather patterns globally.

Body

Causes of Climate change

-Numerous causes of weather changes are responsible for the current challenges facing different countries

-There is no single cause significantly linked to the increasing deterioration in climate, the interplay among different factors has been entirely responsible for the recent observations noted about climatic patterns (Meinshausen, Meinshausen, and Hare, 1158).

-Causes include human activities, solar radiations, and greenhouse gases among other factors. Emission of gases such as carbon dioxide, methane block thermal heat from being radiated back to the atmosphere leading to increasing temperatures which causes the ice in the Polar Regions to the melt leading to damaging flooding and changes in the flow of the river (Cline, 332).

- Human activities also contribute to the deterioration of the climate. For instance, the production activities that result in the introduction of gases such as carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

-The advent of industrialization, the impacts of climate change has been dire (NASA, 33).

Effects of climate change

-The global weather pattern is expected to undergo further changes in the next 100 years and even beyond.

-There have been fluctuations in the amount of precipitation in different parts of the world.

-Some areas including the northern US are expected to receive more rainfall and cold seasons as compared to Southwest

-Moreover, the incidences of increased occurrence and duration of hurricanes have improved drastically since the last few decades mainly due to the increase in human activities.

-The global sea level has continued to rise steadily over the last few decades by more than 8 inches since the beginning of 20th century (Chatterjee, 233).

-The adverse effects of climate change also threaten the food situation in the global scenes due to reduced arable land and adverse climatic conditions.

-The unpredictable weather patterns and sporadic precipitations also make it extremely difficult for people to engage in agricultural activities (NASA, 44).

-Globalization creates employment opportunities through trade, investment in developing countries. However, globalization impacts negatively on environmental conservation (Meinshausen, Meinshausen, and Hare1, 1158).

Benefits of Managing Climate Change

-The increased in agricultural production, thus, food security due to improvement in the climatic conditions.

-The governments will remarkably reduce expenses on the addressing deteriorating health conditions of those affected by various acts of nature which are instigated by changes in the global climate

-Reduced spending on the provision of humanitarian assistance to individuals or countries devastated by the effects of climate change.

-The stakeholders will spend few dollars in the provision of relief services as evacuating victims of the impact of climate change such as Tsunami.

Addressing the Societal Problem

-Political debates on who should be held responsible for the deterioration of climate conditions in threatening concerted efforts aimed at addressing the problem (Chatterjee, 224).

-The long-term success in the management of weather changes and associated effects result into more benefits as compared to the costs and lost opportunities encountered in the implementation (Chatterjee, 223).

-It is prudent to choose to implement the proposed policy changes regardless of the perceived adverse implications.

-Addressing the effects of climate change require cooperation among the concerned stakeholders.

-Countries across the globe should come together in the ratification of regional and internal policies aimed at minimizing emission of greenhouse gases as well as other pollutants (Cline, 333).

- Some of the measures include;

-Putting more emphasis on the need for countries to embrace clean and renewable sources of energy are helpful in reducing deterioration in climatic conditions. There should be a commitment on the part of governments in ensuring that more than 50% sources of energy are renewable (Cline, 334).

-Creation of green industries where eco-friendly production methods are critical in addressing the problem.

-Increase in the energy consumption efficiencies by encouraging the use of energy efficient vehicles and automotive.

- Supporting carbon storage through carbon farming approaches to minimize the production of contaminants.

-Introduction of changes in agricultural production methods to cope with the effects of climate change while implementing long-term solutions (Cline, 335).

-The processes of addressing the transition from more polluted to the less polluted environment require effective action plan that outlines the paradigm shift in the production and management of critical ecological resources (Meinshausen, Meinshausen, and Hare, 1158).

-Conducting public education is an enabling factor in ensuring successful implementation of any environmental policy.

-Such processes require sufficient time for full implementation.

Conclusion

-It is important to mention that climate change is a real threat to the current and future generations as well as in the sustainable use of natural economic endowment.

-Lasting solutions to the challenge require joint efforts and commitment.

-Relevant stakeholders including governments should work closely with other agencies as well as international partners in confronting the global issue.

-The policymakers also play critical roles in the formulation and implementation of environmental conservation laws to protect the country from the worsening situation resulting from climate change.

-The issue of globalization seems prospective but is one of the major reasons why there is too much destruction on the environment.

-However, the study of climatic change should offer solutions to alleviate this problem and make the earth more habitable.
