Summary
1. Plagiarism occurs if you use somebody else’s work in an assignment or exam answer but fail to state where you got the material. You need to be also very careful about the amount of words you are using from somebody else’s work.
2. It can happen in any type of assessment where you are given the questions or tasks in advance.
3. If another student uses your work in his/her answer(s), both you and he/she will be punished when caught.
4. Punishments for committing plagiarism can be very severe.

Plagiarism is a form of cheating in which students use the work of others and present it as their own. It may include all or any one of the following
1. Copying extensively from the work of others (from sources such as books, magazines, journal, websites etc.) and submit the work as your own.
2. Copying another students’ work and submit it for assessment under your own name.
3. Allowing students to copy your work and then submit it for assessment under their own name.
What happens if you are caught?
The examining body of CBFS may punish offending students in any manner that they deem fit. Typical punishments may range from reduction in grades, making students re-sit modules and even failing students on a module or an entire award. The college considers this form of cheating as a serious offence. Therefore, be forewarned!

TASK 1:
The task contains 5 scenarios. You must answer each of them separately by referring to the relevant articles of Oman Labour Law. Do not reproduce the articles here. Your answer should be supported by proper reasoning.
Break-up of marks: 1 mark for citing the correct article and three marks for reasoning. Total 4 marks. (5×4=20)
Scenario 1
Marwan joined Mazoon Equipment LLC on January 15, 2016 as a painter. He was dismissed on April 16 , 2017. Prior to his dismissal Marwan had submitted his resignation on March 15, 2017 clearly stating that he was submitting his resignation with immediate effect. Mazoon Equipment did not respond to this resignation. Marwan continued working till April 16, 2017, the date on which he was terminated.
Question 1 : Is the resignation submitted on March 15, 2017 valid?
Question 2 : Analyse the relevant article/s of Labour Law of Oman that deal with this case (word limit for both questions 150 words )
Scenario 2
Haroon is employed with Tasty Bites Restaurant in Muscat. He is known for losing his cool without any reason. On September 2, 2020 when his Supervisor Seif asked him to wear his face mask in the prescribed manner he started abusing Seif. When Seif asked him to calm down he landed a blow on Seif’s face dislodging two of his teeth besides causing a black eye and a fractured nose. Sief was taken to the hospital in a critical condition and had to remain in hospital for over a month. Tasty Bites is contemplating terminating the services of Haroon with immediate effect ( without any notice) and end of service benefits.
Question 1 : Is Tasty Bites in compliance with the Labour Law of Oman? Question 2 : Discuss referring to relevant articles from the Labour Law of Oman. (word limit is 150 words )
Scenario 3
Windtech Wind Energy SAOC requires its Muslim employees to work for 6 hours per day during the month of Ramdan . The total hours worked are 36 hours per week. SunTech Solar Energy SAOC reduces the working hours to 6 hours for all its employees. The total hours worked are 30 hours .
Question: Determine which of the two establishments have violated the Labour Law of Oman? (word limit is 150 words )
Scenario 4
SaveWell Bank has an agreement with Friends Agency under which Friends provides hygiene maintenance staff to SaveWell. The staff is under the control of Friends. SaveWell pays a lump sum contract fee to Friends. Friends then pays the staff deployed at SaveWell. The wage rates are lower than that of SaveWell but higher than the minimum stipulated by the Labour Law of Oman. Fareed, one of the staff sent by Friends Agency, lodges a claim to be paid what employees of SaveWell are paid because according to him the bank is benefitted by his services. Hence Fareed wants to be treated at par with the regular employees of SaveWell

Scenario 5
SuperBowl Soups LLC employs 45 employees. The Company has informed the Directorate of a vacancy which will be created with effect from March 4, 2020. The vacancy is on the shopfloor. Based on the job specification the Ministry nominates Ammaar a person with special needs.
SuperBowl refuses to recruit Ammaar stating that they are not bound to comply with the Directorate’s requirement.
Question : Is the stand taken by SuperBowl valid? (word limit is 150 words )
Task 2
Global Knowledge a reputed business house in Oman has recently established two Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) one in Muscat and the other in Sohar. Both HEIs will open their doors for students in September 2021. To make the HEIs operational, there is a need for different categories of staff ( administrative, Human Resources, IT, Marketing other staff and Teaching Faculty )
