*Think about where Gatsby dies and what the weather is like during his

funeral. The answers are NOT a coincidence. Think about the not so “great”

things Gatsby does. For example, has an affair with a married woman, is a

bootlegger, hangs out with mobsters, and lies to everyone but Nick about

his past. Put these ideas (water and his less than “great” life) together.

What is the water doing for Gatsby at the end of his life? Hint, hint. What do

we do when we bathe every day? We wash away the dirt we acquired all day.

Think about Gatsby and his dirty deeds. This should help you answer the
