Hello Professor and Classmates,

It is hard to believe it is already week eight. I just wanted to say that I have enjoyed the conversations we have had in this forum and learning with you.

As the new "ethics coordinator," my goal in this presentation is to show the importance of ethics and the application in their life. I want to show them ethics make their lives better and how it makes the company better.  As a security officer, we must maintain the highest ethical fiber. We are trusted with securing people, information, and assets. If our ethical fiber is in question, the impacts can affect our career and the lives of the people around us. An unethical decision hurt ourselves and our coworkers, and the people we are trying to keep safe.  Those who employ our services trust us to make good decisions during bad times.

After defining what ethics are, I would refer as much as possible to the company Code of Conduct to guide ethical decisions. To help the audience understand the importance of ethics, I would reference the cases where ethical decisions had grave consequences. My goal would be to find situations that are relatable to the audience so that they can put themselves in the position. So for an audience of my peers, I might talk about the "Nisour Square" incident or the actions of Edward Snowden. The purpose would not be to find blame or be the judge of right and wrong but instead to ask questions to draw out the audience's thoughts on the ethics of the matters. I would start with large, possibly controversial incidents and then shift to smaller experiences that have a more everyday application, like adding hours to your timecard or falsifying inventory sheets.

From here, I would talk about how individuals' actions impact their team and ultimately impact the company's reputation and reliability. If you do not value making ethical decisions as an individual, then the company cannot provide adequate security. The idea is to help everyone understand that their actions impact not only themselves but also everyone around them.

Thank you for reading.
