two peer reviews week 3 introduction to fiction

Each student should answer two questions individually and post two peer reviews of another students' comments. Remember to begin your peer posts with "Peer Review of:" (you will not receive credit if your peer reviews are not posted properly).  Your answers need to contain information from both the textbook and from outside sources. This could include Power-Web, a website, or journal articles, etc.  This means you need to cite your source at the end of each discussion question.

Your answers need to contain information from the textbook and/or information from outside the textbook (Internet).  This could include Power-Web, a website, or journal articles, etc. This means you need to cite your sources and that you have provided the reference/s at the end of each discussion question.

Chapters 5 and 6

6. What is the number 1 factor in selection of a 3PL?

From our text, cost is the number factor in the selection of a 3PL.  “The need to drive significant cost reduction is still the key decision-making criteria. Cost and service are the two most prevalent factors responsible for using a 3PL provider” (Branch, 2009).  Chad Rubin, CEO of Think Crucial says “proactively outsourcing fulfillment to a 3PL in the early stages of your business helps reduce overhead costs, provides a runway to scale, and most importantly, gives you back your time” (Organization, 2019).

7. List 4 other factors in the selection of a 3PL.

Identified in our text, the following are other factors in the selection of a 3PL:

1. An emphasis on improved SCM, which is continuous.

2. The implementation of new information technologies, innovation and cost efficiency.

3. Collaborative partnerships.

4. Value-added service.

A company’s selection of a 3PL is tough and here are additional 5 elements in selecting the right logistics provider: capabilities, customer service, safety record, company stability, and company reputation.  in selection of a 3PL, a prospective logistics provider must be competent in the capabilities needed.  “The provider that offers you the overall lowest cost of working together is the partner you want around for years to come” (2021).

6. What is the number 1 factor in selection of a 3PL?

Cost is the number 1 factor when it comes to selecting and using a 3PL. Most things we talk about has an emphasis on keeping cost low and this is no exception. Going with the cheapest bidder may not be the best provider for what you need but it needs to be at the forefront of the decision.

7. List 4 other factors in the selection of a 3PL.

With cost being the top factor in the selection of a 3PL another that we must look at is what benefit will be gained by using the service. There has to be some sort of value that is added by using them and that is considered value-added services. We must also look at how we can create a collaborative partnership with the organization that we choose. It would be ideal to find a partner that you could trust and get used to using. You also need to look at their provisions of core services and see if it is improving your overall provided services. This could be inbound and outbound goods or warehouse management as a whole. The fourth item is the opportunity to drive forward supply chain management. Finding a partner that you could grow with would really be ideal.
