(Trina Discussion Essay)

Being a scholar, one would have to have a profound knowledge of a specific subject. A scholar would be a distinguished academic. Being a doctoral research student will allow me to develop the tools to research and analyze subject matter pertaining to my area of study. There are desired beliefs in accomplishing the role of scholar, starting with setting specific goals from the beginning of your educational journey. As I mentioned in my introduction upon enrollment, becoming a doctoral student has been a goal since I determined the value of education.

As a practitioner, working within the medical and education industries, the expectations are based on meeting the needs of patients and students, to ensure they are receiving the best quality care and service. I have been a medical practitioner since 1991. Being a medical professional, requires the ability to multitask, the utilization of time management and most importantly, being organized. As a doctoral research student, I can apply the knowledge gained from years of experience to actively enhance my research.

Dr. Meredith Vanstone shared her thoughts on philosophical worldviews as a paradigm, focusing on positivism, constructivism, pragmatism and advocacy. Using the various approaches to shape doctoral research (Vanstone 2016).

Lastly, I am still determining my doctoral research area of study. I am hoping to narrow down my options as I gain more knowledge. Moreover, I do believe that preparation towards presenting my research and professional achievements at conferences would be based on my confidence and establishing a strong representation of my beliefs in my chosen interest.
