Empathizes with her friend and with that she opened the sheriffs wife’s mind and eyes to their old friends reality (how mistreated and caged she was by her husband)

Was able to analyze Minnie’s home life better

Started to believe Minnie did the crime but covered for her because living conditions were deplorable
