THE MEHIKA TRIBE

My personal tribe is the Mehika tribe. It is a derivative of the Aztec tribe that inhabited central Mexico in the 14th to 16th century. This is a tribe that is very rich in culture and tribal norms. A good example is religion (Von, p.57). This is a religion that is founded on certain rituals that are centered on calendar dates with each being dedicated to a given deity. It is believed that these deities control the fate of the people and any failure to appease them might result in some negative repercussions for the people. Among the customs of this tribe include a sense of communal living and intermarriage. The communal living had every member of society doing certain tasks that were integral to the general progress of society. The intermarriage aspect was hinged on building stronger ties between powerful families. It is considered a societal shame if a person fails to marry or get married by the time they hit a certain age preferably the age of 27 (Burgan, p. 31).

Not all members of the tribe adhere to the norms of the tribe. Advances that have been made in science as well as globalization have rendered some of the norms of the tribe obsolete. Among the norms that are becoming unpopular include the religious cycle previously observed by the tribe. The Mehika tribe is known for its artistic expression. Good example is the writing method used by the tribe that consists of logarithmic signs as well as phonetic syllable signs (Vaillant, p. 72). This writing style has contributed to the artistic style that is very popular with the tribe. The tribe is also renowned for its artistic expression through elements such as poetry and music.
