Transformational leadership
Introduction
In transformational leadership, leaders are expected to mobilize the employees in the organization to work with the aim of attaining higher and unexpected results. Leaders are expected to come up with new policies in the organization that govern the employees and guide them on what should be done so as to archive the set goals. Transformational leadership is important as an organization can develop out of the inspiration of the leaders to the employees to find the best ways to achieve the goals of the organization. Through various methods such as mobilizing the employees to cooperate and work in groups, leaders are able to get work done faster and raise the morale of the employees as they do their work. These traits of transformational leadership contribute to the excellence of any business. Though the traits are effective in development of an organization, the leaders tend to have challenges in mobilizing employees in getting things done. (Korejan & Shahbazi, 2020) This outline is concerned with the discussion on transformational leadership based on transformational leadership's benefits to the organization and the qualities required by leaders in transformational leadership.
Literature review
For leaders in an organization to mobilize the employees to provide their services to attain unexpected goals, there are various characteristics that should be followed ("Leadership Traits or Processes," 2020). Leaders in the organization should ensure the maintenance of self-management in that they should avoid been directed by others, for example, they should always make their own decisions without following other people's opinions. This makes the leaders develop a sense of doing whatever they think is right and valuable for the development of the organization. For proper transformational leadership, leaders should be able to take the right risks in the organization by involving a change in the usual ways of doing business in the organization. Leaders should make difficult decisions with a clear value of achieving high results in the organization. This requires the leaders to be strict in decision making to set objectives for the employees and unexpected goals so as to raise the effort of the employees. The leaders should always be ready to apply any new ideas in the work done in the organization for the purpose of the development of the business. Leading with a vision in mind is the primary quality of transformational leadership that leaders should have.
Findings
In an organization where the leaders apply the qualities of transformational leadership, there are chances of improving the morale of the employees in doing their duties in the business as a result of the inspiration and motivation of the leaders. Work is done at a faster pace than the usual time, and there are possibilities of attaining the set goals in the organization. Transformational leaders are the excellent leaders in making communication since with the change of ideas in the organization, they have to involve the employees to create awareness about the new decisions made. The leaders make good communicators as they motivate the employees in their respective duties. This helps to create a sense of belonging to the employees as they feel as part of the organization. Moreover, the chances of the organization to face labor turnover are few as the employees are provided with a smooth working environment and the freedom to work without depression from the situation of the organization.
Transformational leadership encourages the situation of ongoing and continuous learning to the leaders and the employees in the organization. With the set vision and goals in the organization, the leaders create methods and criteria to be used to achieve the goal. The employees tend to learn new forms of exercising their skills in the achievement of the organizational goals. This enables the leaders and employees to learn from their failures and achievements. However, there are challenges that are brought about by the transformational leadership, such as the risks made in the organization to make decisions are not proved to succeed as there are chances of failing. This creates a challenge to transformational leaders in taking risks in the business. All the employees are expected to agree with the leaders on the decisions made regardless of the opinions they have. ("10 Disadvantages of Transformational Leadership", 2020) The leaders tend to be the only people to give opinions on what should be done or what should not be done. This creates a challenge for the employees as they have opinions and ideas on the business but do not have the chance to make decisions.
Recommendations
Transformational leadership is effective for the success of any organization as employees and leaders work with a common goal of achieving high and unexpected goals in the organization. Leaders in organizations are recommended to use the transformational leadership qualities in executing their duties in the organization to ensure the development of the organization. Training programs should be carried out in organizations to create awareness to the members of the organization on the benefits of transformational leadership. There should be strategies made to solve any challenge that the transformational leaders face in their leadership. This will contribute to making it easy for the leaders to do their respective duties.
Conclusion
Transformational leadership qualities are vital for the development of an organization as new ideas and decisions are made in the business with the value of achieving set goals in the organization. Leaders should be encouraged to apply the qualities of transformational leadership so as to get to the organizational goals. With the situation of applying changes in the organization, there might be a challenge to the employees, and these calls for adaptability of both the leaders and the employees. Regardless of the challenges that leaders get in transformational leadership, there are high chances of developing the organization as a result of the advantages of the leadership.
