Short Biography

Harika is a bright child who likes to read and is especially talented in math. Her parents are Muslim immigrants from Turkey, and Harika wears a head scarf and conservative clothing. Harika is very shy and does not know how to assert herself.

Home Life

Harika continues to live in the same apartment complex with her family and with her grandparents in the same complex. Recently Harika's aunt and uncle on her mother's side have immigrated from Turkey to the US and have moved into the same apartment complex. They are very involved with the family.

Developmental Details

Harika appears shy and withdrawn; she keeps to herself and tends not to engage in any kind of group play. She seems to be generally lacking in social skills. Harika seems like she would almost like to fade into the background. She is timid and prefers to keep to herself. She goes out of her way to keep from drawing attention to herself. She realizes that she is outwardly different from her peers. She doesn't feel that she has much in common in any way with her peers. She is very vulnerable and could be an excellent target for bullies.

School Life

Harika continues to excel and enjoy math and reading. . She tends to spend as much free time as she can reading, versus participating in physical activities with her classmates. She is very engaged mentally. Harika continues to be physically awkward and cautious. Her writing is still very small and very light. She hates participating in team sports as she is weak and not very coordinated.
