Tips for Personal Perspective

This week, you will complete your personal perspective paper.  Here are some things to keep in mind as you complete your work:

· Please include a clear  introductionLinks to an external site. and  conclusionLinks to an external site. paragraph in your work per strong writing organization.  Your introduction needs to set the reader up for where you are headed in your writing. Your conclusion needs to summarize, wrap up, and add concluding thoughts to your assignment. The links above contain helpful information toward this end.

· Make sure that your introduction paragraph to your writing assignments ends with a thesis/road map that outlines the purpose of this paper and where you are headed. This is a key aspect of strong writing organization, which helps you effectively present your arguments and analysis.  Here's  one resourceLinks to an external site.  and  another resourceLinks to an external site.  for you to read about how to craft a thesis statement for future assignments.

· Please make sure that your subheadings are in APA style. Make sure the subheadings line up clearly with the writing prompts of the assignments. APA style is specific as to the center/bolding etc. of different levels of subheadings. Here is a great  resourceLinks to an external site. that outlines APA subheadings.

· Please rely on scholarly sources instead of ".com" website sources for your assignments in this course. Where your information comes from matters.  In order for your opinions and perspectives to be taken seriously in professional and academic settings, it is important to make clear where your sources come from.  For example, are you making this argument because a research study published in a peer reviewed journal found relevant evidence, or are you making this argument because your Aunt Sallie or an internet site said so? As you grow in your knowledge in this area, please make sure that you direct your reader to reliable evidence to support your claims in the form of scholarly sources.  If you are unclear on what is a scholarly source, please look at this  resourceLinks to an external site..

· I encourage you to cite referencing multiple scholarly sources in your writing so I can see you are reading and can bring together ideas from multiple sources in your analysis for a particular assignment. Bringing together the ideas of multiple sources to support your arguments demonstrates a strong mastery of the material and a high level of critical thinking, which is one of the main things I assess in assignments.

· Here is the recommended structure for organizing your paper:

· Introduction paragraph (ending with a roadmap/thesis)

· 6 sections, each with a clear subheading, of the 6 perspectives. Please address strengths and weaknesses of each approach in each subsection.

· Preferred perspective and why

· Biblical perspective/analysis

· Conclusion paragraph
