Critical Resources

Raytheon Technologies’ ability to maximize and make use of their tangible and intangible assets to devise and apply their strategies (Mehta 2019). The communication of their mission, vision, goals, and objectives has effectively articulated about who, what, how and why to their employees, clients, and stakeholders. This has afforded Raytheon Technologies to remain competitive with other peer organization in such innovation as aerospace technologies and military defense.

Resourced-Based Theory & Resource Dependency

Raytheon Company and United Technologies merged in 2020 and transition is a good example of resourced based theory and resource dependency. They have been essential to the technological expansion within the last 100 years (Chappell 2019). By this effort they have used the principle of resource dependency because of the environmental uncertainty of either organization to control resources. However, they have the capacity to apply market strategies of a valuable product that is not being used or the competition’s strategies have stopped.

Types of Critical Resources

Resource based views ascertains to companies that can maintain phenomenal returns only if they acquire high-level resources that are protected. Resource dependency theory is associated with companies that attract arrangements with other peer companies and organization within its domain in order to obtain resources (Fraczkiewicz-Wronka, 2012).

Human Resources

Raytheon recently appointed Dantaya Williams as Chief Human Resources officer replacing Doug Balsbough who has retired after the merger of Raytheon and United Technologies (Raytheon Technologies, 2020). Her areas of responsibilities will be associated with talent management, initiatives in diversity, and security employee relations. This management strategy will match the skills set of those individuals associated avionics, cybersecurity, and training solutions. This resource compares to the valuable of (VRIN).

Financial Resources

Several banks were involved in the merger of Raytheon and United Technologies. Raytheon has the services of Citigroup Global market Inc. and Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC, Evercore, and Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC are acting as “financial advisors to United Technologies. In addition, RBC Capital Markets LLC provided a fairness opinion, which is a professional opinion (provided by an investment bank) about whether the price offered in a merger or acquisition is reasonable” (Bentley University 2019).

Technology Resources

Technology has become a huge movement and the area of technology management has exploded in many ways to discuss how organization might the use of it and strategy. “Raytheon will transform the aerospace and defense landscape, becoming a dominant global supplier to military, commercial and civil customers” (Thompson, 2020). The underlying unity of the enterprise will enable Raytheon Technologies to offer its myriad products in bundles that competitors have trouble matching (Thompson, 2020).
