Have you ever wondered what medicine was like in the United States in the 1800? Do you believe medicine was important then? We live in an ever-changing world and medicine is not the exception. Medicine has evolved in U.S. for centuries and a lot of physicians have learn by trial and error on how to improve it. We have learned that a lot of medicines have withstand the test of time and until this day have been very useful. These medicines are known by many as “old-fashion remedies”. We have learned through our ancestors, grandparents and their grandparents, medicine was not always the same. Sadly, a lot of Americans have died from common diseases in the 1800 due to lack of medicine or even because they were treated with the wrong medicine. The majority of American have always seek medicine to cure their diseases. Medicine was different in the 1800 but people still knew its importance and understood it was needed for survival.
