Title from Page 1 Repeated Here
Start this essay with a strong introduction. Your introduction should be at the top of page two and will begin the body of your essay. Aim to start your introduction with an attention grabbing “hook” to go get the reader’s attention, include any required contextual/background information, and end it with a purpose statement. A purpose statement is like a thesis statement only slightly different. Purpose statements provide the purpose, scope, and direction of the paper and generally have common beginnings like “This paper examines”, “The aim of this paper”, or “The purpose of this essay is to…”
Education Reform #1(Inclusion and SpEd Reform)
Begin this paragraph with a strong topic sentence that clearly states which reform from the list of provided options you will be discussing in this section. Keep the heading or adjust it to fit your specific reform. You may also wish to include subheadings in this area. Be sure to briefly outline your reform in a few sentences and clearly discuss both the positive and negative aspects of the reform you’ve selected. This is a content area of your paper, as such, it should include the use of a resource(s) and citations/references. This discussion, combined with your Reform #2 discussion, accounts for 30% of your total score on this assignment.
Education Reform #2(Differentiated Learning)
Begin this paragraph with a strong topic sentence that clearly states which reform from the list of provided options you will be discussing in this section. Keep the heading or adjust it to fit your specific reform. You may also wish to include subheadings in this area. Be sure to briefly outline your reform in a few sentences and clearly discuss both the positive and negative aspects of the reform you’ve selected. This is a content area of your paper, as such, it should include the use of a resource(s) and citations/references. This discussion, combined with your Reform #1 discussion, accounts for 30% of your total score on this assignment.
Additional Reform(Increasing Teacher Salary)
Begin this paragraph with a strong topic sentence that introduces your additional reform. For full credit in this section, the change or reform suggested should be realistic, practical and arguably benefit the future of secondary education. The reform discussed here can be anything that would benefit secondary classrooms from increasing teacher salary, homework reform, technical school focus, etc. This reform should NOT be from the list of reforms included with this assignment’s directions. The use of resources, citations, and references should be used to justify the need of the reform purposed here. This section is worth 20% of your total score on this assignment.
Implementation Plan
Begin this paragraph with a strong topic sentence. Discuss a realistic plan for how the additional reform still needed in education could be implemented in your community. Support your ideas with scholarly research as appropriate. This section is worth 15% of your total score on this assignment.
Conclusion
Review what you have just written about in your essay. The topics you have discussed should be mentioned/summarized here. This paragraph is just as important as any other paragraph in this essay. Make it strong and end with a solid summary of the ideas you have shared. This is not the place to begin new topics – if you have not talked about it in the essay, do not include it here. Including an introduction, appropriate headings/subheadings, and a conclusion impacts the format section of the rubric which accounts for 5% of your total score on this assignment. As an academic essay, you should aim to write in 3rd person only when preparing this assignment.
