Discuss why you have decided to complete your BSN at this time, and the concerns you have about completing your baccalaureate degree. Based on the readings in the course materials, what strategies can you implement to be a successful student?
Re: Topic 1 DQ 1
Hi everyone my name is Jasmine, I'm from Chicago, IL, but currently live in Indiana and I'm currently obtaining my ASN and BSN concurrently. I choose to go for my BSN because I've always wanted to further my education and after years of retrying school, having illnesses prevent me from attending, I finally found the appropriate time to finish what I started. I have two daughters, another on the way in a few weeks, I lived a very tumultuous life and always told myself I would never put my children what I've been through so I'm using me striving to get my degree to not only hit a milestone for myself, but to give my daughters the life I always wanted.
Obstacles come with everything we do in life, so with that being said, of course I will have concerns while trying to complete my BSN is of course being a parent because that takes up majority of my time, working, and obtaining both my ASN and BSN at the same time and completing assignments from both, but I've dealt with worse and know my potential. Nothing can stop me when I put my mind into it and manage my time between both degrees!
In order to be an effective and successful student, it starts off with having superb study skills with the use of note-taking, watching videos, consulting our professor/peers, and attending tutoring sessions if needed. Time management, is very important and I with me completing two degrees simultaneously, I plan to keep implementing the use of my planner, phone and laptop calenders, and even set up reminders on what assignments are due, on top of a study schedule. Another thing is to prevent being behind on coursework and having late assignments, those are a HUGE no, and can impact me as a student missing out on vital information needed to succeed in this course and in obtaining my BSN.
I have three little ladies watching me so as a woman, mother, and role model, its my job to show them the blood, sweat, and tears it sometimes take to achieve something you want. I will do everything to be successful and no mistakes will be made!
