The first 3 chapters of the Martens text which is also covered in the “Principles of Coaching course” helps one shape an understanding of what type of coach, administrator or leader that you are or aspire to become. This is a foundational point that is emphasized in the majority of our undergraduate and graduate sport science classes. We feel your development as a person, your beliefs, your values, your motivations all have a part in your ability to lead others on the field/court or in workplace. It is the belief of many that at the end of the day expert coaches’ ability to lead individuals to “be the best they can be” plays a big role in the success of the individual, team and organization.

With that being said: What type of leader are you right now? How has the Wooden, Tressel article or others in your life influenced your beliefs on where you are currently and where you want to go as a leader, manager, coach, person?
