Teenagers’ mental health in China: will school help them?

Mental health is one of the most serious problems in China. In 2012, there are about 173 million people live with mental health problems (Xiang, Yu, et al, 2012). Teenagers have much more chance have mental health problems. According to Chinanews, the rate of teenagers’ having mental health problems is increasing (2018). In 2008, Chinese government put in place about mental health. In this policy, they consider schools will be an important part for prevention and treatment.

In the paper, I will try to find out that this is effective for mental health problems or not. There are three parts in the paper. In the first part, I will describe the environment of mental health problems in China. In detail, those questions should be answered, 1. How Chinese think about mental health problems, especially for teenagers’ mental health problems. 2. Why Chinese people think that. The second part, I will analysis that it is useful or not that schools will making an important role on preventing and curing mental health problems. In the thirdly part, I will try to find out why or why not this way is effective.

The resources include The Lancet like the article Mental health in China: challenges and progress. Yip, kam-shing’s article Community mental health in the People's Republic of China: a critical analysis. Some news from National health commission of the Republic of China, and so on reliable resources. Moreover, the data also will be found believable organization such as WTO.
