The Documentary, Latino Americans, will give you a visual illustration to coincide with Part 5 of the 6 themes of the class. Latino Americans: War and Peace focuses on Mexican participation, as well as other Latinos, in World War 2.

This documentary will discuss the participation of many Mexicans and Mexican Americans. Though the documentary does include other Latinos, the key focus is the treatment of this group during and after returning from war. Consider the exploits of specific Chicano veterans like Manuel Gonzalez, Macario Garcia, Henry Garcia, and Guy Gabaldon. What was the importance of each and how did they react to their treatment upon returning to the United States. Also, consider how society treated Mexicans/Mexican Americans, especially during the era of heightened national security. The veterans changed after war, but did society?
