I

used

the

Research

Article

Organizer

as

an

evaluative

tool

to

analyze

four

research

articles

in

relation

to

issues

in

K

–

12

education.

The

research

article

organizer

is

divided

into

several

categories

that

identify

the

title,

author,

purpose,

research

design,

and

research

method

of

articles.

This

tool

would

serve

an

essential

component

for

us

as

graduate

students

because

it

is

imperative

for

us

to

locate,

analyze,

and

reflect

upon

resources

gathered

in

relation

to

our

research

topic

(Laureate

Education,

2014h).

Moreover,

in

an

article

written

by

Krishnamachari

(2002),

he

highlighted

significant

aspects

of

conducting

research

such

as

formulating

a

well

-

defined

problem.

Formulating

a

well

-

defined

problem

allows

students

to

locate

similar

articles

in

relati

on

to

their

topic

that

can

add

validity

and

value

to

their

current

research

(Krishnamachari,

2002)

.

A

large

aspect

of

any

doctoral

program

is

understanding

how

to

conduct

research.

When

locating

articles,

students

will

want

to

read

the

abstract.

The

abstract

serves

as

a

synopsis

of

what

the

research

pertained

to

the

article

will

be

about.

Additionally,

students

will

want

to

take

note

of

key

terms

highlighted

in

relation

to

the

article;

this

too

should

be

a

modification

added

to

the

research

artic

le

organizer.

Key

terms

allow

the

reader

to

find

similar

articles

that

relate

to

the

same

area

of

research

and

can

narrow

search

results

down

to

being

word

specific

For this week’s discussion, I used the Research Article Organizer as an evaluative tool to analyze

four research articles in relation to issues in K – 12 education. The research article organizer is

divided into several categories that identify the title, author, purpose, research design, and

research method of articles. This tool would serve an essential component for us as graduate

students because it is imperative for us to locate, analyze, and reflect upon resources gathered in

relation to our research topic (Laureate Education, 2014h). Moreover, in an article written by

Krishnamachari (2002), he highlighted significant aspects of conducting research such as

formulating a well-defined problem. Formulating a well-defined problem allows students to

locate similar articles in relation to their topic that can add validity and value to their current

research (Krishnamachari, 2002).

A large aspect of any doctoral program is understanding how to conduct research. When

locating articles, students will want to read the abstract. The abstract serves as a synopsis of what

the research pertained to the article will be about. Additionally, students will want to take note of

key terms highlighted in relation to the article; this too should be a modification added to the

research article organizer. Key terms allow the reader to find similar articles that relate to the

same area of research and can narrow search results down to being word specific (Kishwaukee
