Possible Points

Content / Subject Knowledge: (40 points) Accurate and complete information is presented in a concise, logical sequence. Topic goes well beyond knowledge level of audience. Based upon a peer-reviewed article published within past 6-months to a year, the student will discuss three important facts the author uses to support thesis, explain or correlate the facts with facts from course content, use in text citation from course reading to show connections to this article, valuate the resources provided with the article. Are there resources provided with the article?  Are they recent? Describe the strengths and weaknesses of the information presented as it applies to the professions. Critically evaluate the information in the article. Is there bias or faulty reasoning? Evaluate the information for truth. Bring in outside sources to support your analysis and review.  What are others saying about the same topic?  You must support claims of both fact and faulty reasoning.  You need to have in-text citation within each slide or where you use other's information.  

Organization of Ideas/Format: (20 points) Presentation includes clear, organized significance (greater context – why should we care?), title slide with the standard title page information, introduction slide- title of article, author’s names, discuss the author’s thesis on this slide-1 - slide, body slides (as many as are needed to hit all the criteria) (3-facts slides, the strengths-1 slide and weaknesses-1 slide,  how this applies to our profession - 1-slide, what other authors-1 slide and research is saying, how this research relates back to our textbook)-1 slide, bias/faulty reasoning -1-slide, evaluate the resources within the article - 1-slide conclusion slide (what was most important – main points)-1-slide and then lastly a reference slide -including all the references used. Each information slide outlines or supplements a major point or details previous point. Do not visually overload or contain small font – all text clearly visible. Thirty to fifty words per slide, use bullet-type statements - then explain further, if need or you used only a direct quote. Completely logical sequence of ideas.

Writing Conventions - Grammar/Mechanics/APA 7 Formatting: (20 points) Student demonstrates an excellent command of grammar, as well as presents research in a clear and concise writing style. Use your own words, instead of taking direct quotes and not explaining them. Presents a thorough, extensive understanding of word usage. Student excels in the selection and development of a well-planned research assignment. Assignment is error-free and reflects student’s ability to prepare a high-quality academic assignment.  APA 7th edition format is followed for essay format and references.

Graphics & Transitions: (20 points) Graphics used to illustrate topic of slide in an effective manner. Images are appropriate. Layout of images is pleasing to the eye. They all explain complex issues in a clear manner. Transitions are smooth and interesting. Transitions enhance the presentation.  Background and text complement each other; easy to read, consistent throughout the presentation.
