A. Introduction/Motivation

1. I will call the class to attention.

2. I will tell the students to complete the “DO NOW” that is written on the board, while I take roll.

3. After taking roll I will have the students pass the “DO NOW” forward and then take them up.

4. After receiving the “DO NOW” from the students I will proceed to go over them with the class.

5. I will then tell the students that we will begin on a new unit that is over Ancient China.

6. I will ask the students if they know what continent China is located on.

7. Once we have discovered the answer to the previous question, I will then ask the students what they know about Ancient China, while assuring them that it is ok if they do not know to much about this area.

8. I will then ask the students if there is anything specific about Ancient China that interest them and that they may be interested in furthering their knowledge about.

9. Next, I will tell the students that we will be discussing a power point and playing a game once we have finished the power point.

B. Study/Learning Activities

1. We will begin the unit with a power point over the geography of China.

2. As we look through slides 2 through 5 we will discuss the focus questions that are found on each slide.

3. Once we make it to slide 6, which is a map, I pass out a blank copy of the map and ask the students to fill it the features while I present it to them.

4. I will ask the students several different questions such as, “How did rivers and bodies of water impact or sustain life? And In what ways did people of a specific region depend on their environment for survival?”

5. When we reach slide 7, we will begin a visual fieldtrip of the different regions.

6. Once we have completely discussed each slide, the students will be assigned to a specific group of 4 students.

7. After assigning the groups, I will explain to the students that we will be playing a game called World Domination through YOUTUBE.

8. I will ask the students create a name for their group.

9. Once they have decided on a name, I will ask them to get out a sheet of paper and pencil and write their name as well as their group name on it.

10. Once they have completed that we will begin the game.

11. After the game is complete, I will pick up their papers and ask them to return to their seats quietly.

C. Culmination

1. Once the students have returned to their seats, I will ask them questions from the lesson.

2. We will quickly and briefly review what was taught.

3. I will allow time for the students to ask questions that they may still be unsure of.

4. If needed, I will display the map again and have the students look it over briefly again.

5. Have student took out a sheet of paper.

6. Tell the student to write 4 facts about the Geography of Ancient China. (remedial)

7. Tell the student that they can write a paragraph about the Geography of Ancient China. (enrichment)

8. Give the student 5 minutes to finish.

9. When the student is finished, have them to go put their paper in the basket marked 2nd period.

10. Tell the student we need to seat back down in their desk.

11. Ask the students if they have any more questions.

12. Answer any questions if no questions, tell the student we are going to finish up the lesson for today.

D. Follow- Up

1. Once we have reviewed, I will ask the students to clear their desk of all things except for a pencil.

2. I will clear off the SMART board and tell the students they will be taking a quiz.

3. I will then pass the quiz out and tell the students to remain in their seat and to not speak while the quiz is being given.

4. Once the students have completed the quiz, I will pick them up.

5. I will ask the students if they have any further questions and allow them to elaborate on things that they have learned.

1. I will call the class to attention.

2. Once I have their attention, I will ask them to complete the “DO NOW” that is found on the board.

3. While they are completing the “DO NOW”, I will take roll.

5. Once I have received all the “DO NOWS” I will go over them with the class.

6. I will then explain to the students that today we will be discussing the vocabulary of Ancient China and then play a vocabulary game.

7. I will ask the students if they know any important vocabulary that pertains to Ancient China.

8. I will then ask the students if there is any specific thing or word that they may be interested in learning about that comes from Ancient China.

B. Study/Learning

1. I will begin the class discussion by passing out the copy of the definitions that we will be learning about.

2. Once each student has received their papers, I will begin by reading the definitions aloud to the class.

3. Once we have read the definitions aloud, I will ask the students if they have any questions.

4. If no students have questions, I will ask the students to silently review those vocabulary words by themselves for 10 minutes.

5. Once those 10 minutes are up, I will assign the students to two different groups.

6. Once the groups have been assigned, I will allow the students to quickly create a group name and to decide on one team representative.

7. Once each team has a representative and a name, we will begin the term game.

**Given resources, student will finish the Ancient Chine word search with no errors.

*Given no resources, student will write 10 sentences using vocabulary words with no more than 2 errors.

8. I will explain to the students that they will take turns being the team representative and answer the question.

9. I will ask each team representative to come to the front of the room and turn their backs toward the SMART board.

10. Once they have done so I will tell the students that they must give ONE WORD clues to the representatives, but they MUST raise their hand before speaking.

11. I will tell the students that once I have called on them, they may give their one-word clue and try to get their representative to guess the word that is behind them on the SMARTBOARD.

12. The first team representative to correctly guess the word before the time runs out will win a point for their team.

13. Once all students have had a chance to be team representative, and each word has been used at least once I will announce the winner.

14. After the winner has been announced I will ask the students to return to their seats quietly.

C. Culmination

1. Once the students have returned to their seats, I will ask them to face forward.

2. I will begin to ask questions about the vocabulary words.

3. Once we have reviewed each word, I will ask if any students still have any kind of misunderstanding of ANY word from the lesson.

4. Tell the student they are going to do a word search to help the remember the vocabulary words in the lesson. (remedial)

5. Tell the student that they can pick 10 vocabulary words from the list of words and use them in a sentence.

6. Tell the student they have to write a sentence for each vocabulary word. (enrichment)

7. If there are no questions, we will proceed to the final part of our lesson.

4. Once each student has completed the quiz, I will pick them up.

5. After I have all quizzes, I will ask the students how they think they scored on the quiz.

6. If the students have any further questions, I will allow them to be asked and clear up any confusion they may still have.

7. Once all questions have been answered, I will tell the students to enjoy the rest of their day.

1. I will begin the lesson by pulling up the PowerPoint and asking the students to take out paper so they can take notes.

2. We will go through each slide and discuss it thoroughly.

3. I will ask the students to be sure to take notes as we go along so they have something to study for the quiz and test.

4. After we have completed the PowerPoint, I will ask the students if they have any further questions regarding what we have discussed.

5. Next, I will pass out the Ancient China worksheets and tell the students that we will work together to go fill them out.

6. After the students have received the work sheets, we will begin to go over them as a class.

11. Once those six minutes are up, the students will rotate to the next group and complete the tasks that are found there.

6. Once we have gone through each slide, I will ask the students if they have any further questions or if they need me to go back to any slide.

7. Once we have finished answering questions, I will ask the students to clear their desk of everything except for the notes they just took and a pencil.

2. Once the students have cleared their desk, I will ask them to be sure to remain facing forward, remain quiet, and keep their hands to themselves.

3. I will explain to the students that they will be taking a quick quiz over the Religions of China.

4. I will tell the students that the quiz is beginning and to pay attention.

5. I will read aloud each question and allow the students adequate time to answer each one.

6. Once the students have completed the quiz, I will pick them up.

7. Once I have the quizzes, I will ask if they have any questions.

8. Once all questions have been answered, I will tell the students to be good and enjoy their day.

4. Once we have finished discussing the Ancient Chinese Architecture, I will ask the students if they have any questions. Play videos for the students.

5. Once all the questions and concerns have been resolved I will ask the students to face forward.

6. I will then pass out the worksheet over the Ancient Chinese Architecture.

7. I will ask them to quietly answer the questions.
